The depression makes me want to crawl under the covers and sleep, but I don't want to sleep because that means morning will be here soon. I hate feeling this way and wish I could find a med combo to take away the dread. Any tips on beating this feeling would be appreciated.

I don't have any tips. But I hope you feel better and that once your day gets going maybe the depression will wear off a bit.

Is there any particular reason you feel the depression coming back now? Is it situational or environmental at all? If there are some aspects that are variable, like caused by environment or situation, maybe you can work to change those so you aren't feeling so oppressed by the depression.

Hi Markdl,

I'm sorry to hear that. I have been through a stage in life where I would stay in bed 24 /7.
Many years have passed but I still feel like doing that sometimes. What worked for me was not just to try to get up - and honestly, it won't work. I had to access the depression at its core.

I don't take meds, and I was able to come around with a new lifestyle. We all know how exercising, therapy, yoga, etc, are powerful "treatments", but my technique was to find something I was completely attached and passionate and started doing this activity at the time I could POSSIBLY give it a try: in the evening. With time, I felt motivated to try more and more, and there was only one way to accomplish those things, I needed more hours in my day. So instead of waking up at 1 pm, I gradually started getting up earlier and earlier,.. 12, 11, 10, 9.. nowadays I wake up at 6 AM. I created a ritual, wake up, drink a cup of green tea is a must. Sometimes I relapse and sleep until 1 pm, however, I already built a biological system.

If you start getting your body conditioned to small things you can go so far... obviously, everyone is different, but my advice for you is, get out of your comfort zone. Start small, and you won't even notice the drastic improvements over the time.

Be strong!

Going back to work seems to be the major trigger. My brother's birthday is today. He passed in 2001.

I'm going to try tea or probably coffee in the morning to see if that helps any. I'll try to avoid the snooze alarm and get right up. Wish me luck and/or pray for me.

Poor you. No wonder you're having problems with waking up.

I hate mornings too, so I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of practical advice. But I'm sending you warm thoughts. Hope things get a little easier soon.

Can you give more detail about which part is hardest? First waking up? Travelling to work?

Yeah, I'm the same. Slept for a lot of my day off.
It's such a horrible feeling, when other people seem to just get on with things.

I can't remember if you said if you're taking an antidepressant it anything?

I don't know much about meds. I suppose at least one of those makes you feel tired.
