In order to save money, I've started taking the bus instead of the taxi (which is on average 4x as expensive).
The dowside is that I'll have almost 2 hrs of transit time in the morning AND in the evening. Because I take two stops. How do I spend this time in the best way, or how would you? |

I learned a new language whilst commuting by train to work....adding another feather in my cap.

That does sound like a good idea. What language and how did you learn it? Besides, I also need to learn Arabic anyway.

I learned Japanese using language education tapes...also by following along using a work book.... learning how to write as well. I have lost a lot of my written skills, but my retention of the spoken language is pretty good. This was in the late 80's

same here, I practice language. I usually listen to podcast or radio to improve my listening skill. Sometimes I read English novel too (I'm not English native speaker). It helps me to improve my skills and kill the time.

I used to ride the bus - 1 hour in, 1 1/2 hours back. I set alarms and slept. As soon as I sat down, I would fall asleep.

My drive is anywhere from an hour to an hour and 15 minutes each way to work. I listen to educational podcasts, music, NPR, or audio books. Everyone I work with asks me how I can stomach the commute, but I look at it as productive time.

An hour one way and over an hour back. Driving. I listen to comedy channel or talk on the phone. I can’t listen to audio books or learn language while driving as I tune it out
