My coworkers have said this particular manager is rude and nasty to them. I’ve never had that issue, I’ve been pleasant to him, and he’s been pleasant to me. Monday it just seemed different. He wasn’t mean at all, he was still nice, it just felt weird. Something broke and I think it might have been me, but I’m not 100% sure it was. It was difficult getting out of the box, I just really didn’t know. He questioned me about it, again not in a mean way and he was still maintained a level voice and not yelling at me. Maybe he was just curious, but when I told him it might have come that way, he gave me a look like he thought I was lying.
Maybe I’m just reading way into this and just feeding off what my coworkers have been saying. But for some reason I’m feeling really sick about this whole thing and I’m anxious about work tomorrow. But I don’t think anything actually happened. And if this is the type of attitude he has with other people, that is nothing. I’ve had managers at other jobs slam stuff in front of me, and throw and kick stuff at me, this just seems like he’s having a bad day. Other managers at this job have actually criticized my work, and have had a look of visible annoyance and I don’t take it personally at all. I don’t know why I feel so off about this incident.

It sounds like your coworkers' comments are floating in the back of your head when you interact with this man. It's probably better to treat each interaction as a new situation. Try to work under the idea that anything he says is to better the work. It's not about you personally.

Only time will tell unfortunately. We hired a tech recently and I bet she was really happy with the group in the first few weeks. I took her for coffee and the senior boss gave her a lot of attention. But then the senior boss got busy and the junior boss who's supposed to supervise her is just ignoring her completely and she has nothing to do, day after day. So what I'm trying to say is that in the end, the only way you can really know what that manager and your coworkers are like is by waiting and watching.
It always puts my mind at ease to have an exit strategy and work towards it here and there in my free time. Check out glassdoor and see what skills are "hot" in your area. Maybe you'll care less about the manager if you feel like you can quit whenever you want. |

He’s still friendly towards me. I still feel anxious around him though. I think if I just continue to be polite it will work out.

Do you feel worried about the incident itself, with the item that was broken? Sometimes things like that eat away at my conscience. Even when things aren’t my fault... I’m a worrier...

We all have our good and bad days. You never know what could be weighing on another person’s mind and it really could have nothing to do with you at all... I think you’re right about being polite and it will work out. ❤️ Last edited by Anonymous47864; Sep 11, 2018 at 07:19 AM. |

He said hi to me and I said hi back but he gave me this weird look. I know I said good in the middle of him asking how I was doing. But maybe that face didn’t mean anything. Also I struggled at work today. I kept looking at one of my coworkers. I have a bad habit of staring at people. I try not to do it. It’s hard. She saw me looking at her. I was actually trying to figure out something. If she was using something. I know I should of asked her. I’m glad I’m not working tomorrow.
