It's a new show coming out next year. Created by the creators of the voice for songwriters. I know it's a long shot but I have to try. It requires relocating to LA during the filming which means my job, my daughter.

I think if i get it I'll talk to my job about taking a leave of absence. Might work might not, not sure if I'm very good at it. My problem is my daughter. I won't be able to see her. I suppose I can go back to daily calls. But it will be hard its like 3 or 4 months, 2 at minimum.

My mom is like aren't you too old for this. Nope because I'm not dead yet. Anyway I'm really not sure I'll be selected but I have to give it a shot. It's a chance at a dream. They say you'll go through a physical and mental health evaluation. And you'll need a doctor note for any pre existing conditions saying you're ok to compete. I really want the chance. So I hope if I get it I can pass the exams with a note.

I'm mostly worried about my daughter. I can get another job or maybe even work it so I can still keep my job. But time with my daughter is precious. Thoughts?

If time with your daughter is "precious," then you will choose to stay near your daughter. I guess this decision will show your daughter what is important to you.

Ouch.

In my experience, the stress and excitement of something like this is an express train to mania regardless of medication. You might perform well in the contest but also make bad decisions and eventually crash hard. I haven't flown anywhere in 14 years for this reason. I have relatives who constantly invite me to New York and Israel, but they have no idea who might meet them at the airport.
Thanks for this!

If you and your daughter have a solid relationship she will understand her mum wants to follow a dream. People who love each other completely don't necessarily agree or are happy with what family does in life, but typically wants their family to be happy with their own lives. Go for it if you want this, I say.
Thanks for this!

I've traveled that's not my concern really. Just being separated from my daughter is, but it hasn't happened yet and the other poster is right she will understand.
