Hey @bpforever1 what about contact tracing? In may of 2020 I took a course online with a fed/government provider and have a certificate. My issue is not having worked in 18 years. I can pm you the name of it if you want. Its free. Most of the jobs are remote or in an educational atmosphere.

I am teaching online now so will look for another similar job. The competition is stiff for teaching jobs since everybody who thinks they can speak English applies. I am not too worried though since I have certification and experience now. But, before I was worried about getting a teaching job since I had no experience.

My current teaching job is based on student satisfaction. If I don't receive good evaluations, I can't keep the student. So, it is not that easy. For me. I am doing quite well despite this since I am an accommodating person by nature. I am not bragging but if I was inflexible and obstinate, this job would be difficult.

I like my job and the people I work with at times. Sometimes, the people who give me students ask me to send in student evaluations at the last minute or ask me to do tasks in little time. I just do it but wonder if they know how little time they are giving me. Also, they pull students from me without my knowledge for one reason or another. So, nothing is perfect.

Overall, I like teaching. It is fun. But, teaching here is not a career but a low-paid job with no advancement. Despite this, I like teaching and will continue to teach while I can. If I was younger, I would look into other fields but as I am older, teaching will suffice for now. I am happy teaching but the pay is so low that I barely make ends meet.

So, the other job I am seeking is similar to the job I have now. It should be doable. I was thinking of teaching privately but am worried about covid-19 still.

I only applied to two other jobs. I'm not sure if I will hear from them. But, I will see what happens.

Yeah I have a friend who does contact tracing. I don't know much about the job. It seems to be good for him though.

Most contact tracing jobs in my area are either full time or part time during the day or you have to be available to make calls on demand. This kind of job most likely will not work for people who already have a job. You have to be available for tracing/calling/entering data immediately, not later. So this kind of job is good for someone who doesn’t work, too hard to navigate as a second job

Yeah that's a good point - I didn't consider that you have to be on-demand basically.

Yeah it’s usually you have to be working during the day 8 hours or if it’s part time you still can’t say “oh I’ll do it in the evening when done with day job.” Especially since you have to call people and if they don’t answer call again

Thank you all for replying!! Happy New Year!!

I've decided that real estate is not a good investment for me. I am going to turn down the job since I have to pay fees to earn a commission. I also don't have an extensive network to call for leads. I am looking for other jobs that I can do again. I found one and will see if they respond. It is a teaching job again. I am happy the way I am although I am paying high taxes. I am sorting out my receipts this year and hiring an accountant to see if it will help reduce my taxes. I would like to earn more money but at the same time, I don't want to overextend myself and be unhealthy and stressed out. I am doing great, as for now. Life is not bad. I am healthy still and am doing well. I hope this year goes well for me and everybody else!!

Lol, so someone encouraged me to do coding. I am trying to do the free code camp. It is doable and fun for now. I am also brushing up on my math skills at the same time. I like both coding and math. Fun and not too hard for me. I am going to stick with it for a while and see what happens. I don't think I'm interested in web development but am learning it for fun. I looked into this a little further and think big data is interesting. It will take me some time to do all of the certificates but so far it is ok. I don't think I will find a company job with these skills but could find a freelance job if I wanted. I find coding and doing math to be good skills that can potentially turn into something enjoyable and maybe profitable if I stick with it. My mind is fried a bit now from doing math problems but I used to be able to do calculus so am relearning it again. I made a New Year's goal to finish free code camp by the end of this year while brushing up on my math. I don't know if I will be able to do it. If I do finish by the end of this year. I will enroll in a paid course for next year if necessary to build my portfolio. I think this will be a great year. I know that after trying real estate- a scam and thinking about medical translating -being taken over by AI, and medical writing - no job guarantee, that maybe coding and big data are the ticket for me. I'm old but my brain is functioning quite well. I feel blessed. I'm truly glad I did not go into real estate. I never heard that paying all these fees to earn money is a wise thing to do. I figured I would go into debt if I went into real estate. The people who run these businesses are piranhas. They prey on the desperate and rip their lifesaving from them. I'm glad I smelt a rotten carcass and left asap. I will be ok. Before my judgment was quite impaired: now, I feel that my judgment has improved. I will keep persevering. I hope you all are doing well. I am busy again but feel this time I'm on the right path.

You can use your knowledge of coding and math making assignments for students. For example making mystery puzzles like solve the problem right and picture will appear. To make those you need to know some coding. I know math teacher who does that and she makes some money by selling assignments online
