I've been at my current job a little over 2 years and I mostly enjoy it, and am reasonably good at it.
On Friday when I went into work, the program coordinator wanted to talk with me. She said another staff member was retiring and would I be interested in taking over part of his role, which involves facilitating double recovery meetings around town. Double recovery is a 12 step program for people with addictions and mental illness. It was an important part of my recovery when I first got sober. I told her I was interested. So the next step is for me to have an interview. I have a bunch of questions, mainly around the hours, but I figure it's at least worth talking with them. |

Awesome @splitimage. Congratulations on the new opportunity, I hope you get it! I am in recovery too, and I would love to participate in something like that. I was looking into Peer Support but I think that would take a lot out of me.
Good luck with everything, tell us how it turns out! __________________ Tales of Love, Motivation, and An Interesting Journey - Please Subscribe to my Website on WordPress: Inspired Odyssey's Path to Wellness and Love |

Well I had the interview yesterday and it was a lot more formal and intense than I was expecting considering that I already work there and have been recommended for the job by 2 staff members.
I have no idea of how I did in the interview, it was all what would you do in this situation type questions so I just answered honestly off the top of my head. they either liked what I said or didn't. Replaying the interview in my head there's a couple of questions that I wish I could change my answers to, but I'm not sweating it. If they don't offer me the position, that's ok, I'm happy where I am. One thing I found really weird is they expressed hesitation about hiring me, because I have been attending double recovery meetings. Like experience with the program should be a prerequisite in my mind. It's not like I'm suddenly going to find the meetings not helpful because I'm chairing them. They'll still be helpful but in a different way. They're supposed to get back to me tomorrow. |

Good news, I got the job. It's very part time for now so I'll keep some of my hours on the help line and do both. The new job has the potential to go full time, sometime next year.
They said they'd send me the written offer on Mon. and then we'll talk about starting to train me to take over the role. We have a month before the staff member I'm replacing leaves so that's a good period for orientation. I'm excited. |

Finally received the written job offer this week, and was surprised to see that they'd given me a raise. We'd talked about salary in the interview and they said it would be at the same rate as my help line work, which was fine with me, but then they increased my hourly rate. This is my second increase this year, so I'm feeling pretty good.
