Is it appropriate to put "wanted to kill self after starting" or is there something else that works better?

Geez. I had to have a big talk with my gp today about how i dont want cancer treatments because i would rather be unalive than sick. (They want to biopsy some calcifications.) I only saved myself by telling him about all my wonderful friends here and how we have imaginary holiday dinners together.

something that works better for whom?
If the answer is "The employer" then that something could be a list of the three top-most reasons you felt that way. If the answer is "me," you'll have your answer after a few good nights' sleep.

I'm trying to get into some state aid thing for getting back to work (which is fking stupid because I have trouble eating and risk killing other people everytime I have to commute somewhere which is basically everywhere) and it's asking for reason for last leaving previous places of employment.
Top three reasons were mostly because I realized I am a useless POS who can't do anything and I don't want to put that either

Okay, seriously. Maybe you can say something like "personality conflict" the follow it up with why that wont happen again? Lack of life goals, problem handling conflict. Inability to persevere - which youve certainly shown us now you DO have.
Sorry for my weird answer earlier, i was stressed out about my upcoming dr appt. |

You don’t normally need to provide a reason. But if you need it for a record of sorts then you can say that you are leaving for health reasons. That wouldn’t be a lie. Or job demands are too overwhelming. Could also be “long commute”.

Job wasn't a good fit, but be prepared to talk about why it was a poor fit - could be technical skills issue, organizational culture

I’d go for job not a good fit, I have used this in the past. My previous job was a short stressful experience for lots of reasons, I’ve been in my current job 8 years with no problems (other than the every day stuff everyone gets) so don’t be discouraged by this one bad experience and try not to call yourself names over it.
As Split says, be prepared to give a more in depth answer if asked. In my case I said it turned out to be more office based than suited me and I wanted a physical job, broadly true but I left out the crackpot manager who bullied me because these things can be misunderstood. |

That's what I put. Later it asked what tasks were difficult/impossible and I felt better putting stuff like "commuting, standing still for hours straight," and whatnot there.

Quote:
I had a bully, crackpot manager at my last job who wanted me gone. I was let go, but the paperwork said, "due to the needs of the business", so I would have probably just said that if asked. It's the best way for companies to just pay someone any severance owed and avoid a wrongful dismissal lawsuit. It was right around when the protests occurred in 2019, so a lot of businesses were laying people off. Still, I was a bit nervous about being asked that. In the end my current freelance client never touched on the subject. Not a good fit seems like a good option to me. |

Although, it's authentic, it's not wise. You have to be careful with employment, because you want to show that you're capable of doing your job, and that's going to show them them and others the complete opposite. Word travels fast. Don't sabotage your career path due to poorly written reasons. Instead, put "personal reasons" and if they ask why, simply state that the job was beginning to affect your health over a prolonged period of time. Hope that helps!

At my last annual review at a university, i was disgruntled because they wouldnt move me to a desk location away from an incessant talker. They usually moved people they wanted to get rid of next to her. Anyway, i told my boss, waddya mean you dont have another desk - this is a university - you are literally IN THE DESK BUSINESS! She was like, are you sure you want me to include that in your reply? One of my best jokes ever, darn right include it.
