By 'drugs' do you mean illegal drugs, or prescription drugs? I assume you mean illegal drugs. That's not the answer -- it only leads to addiction and you certainly do NOT want to lead that kind of life. If you're talking about prescription drugs, but you're getting them illegally, that also leads to addiction and both these instances are lives of pure #$$%$.

I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict. I was addicted to booze & prescription drugs. I'm lucky I didn't kill myself by drinking & drugging. I drank HEAVILY for over 20 years, and took the pills with the booze for probably 2 years. It was horrible! All I could think of was getting high one way or another.

Drugs AREN'T the only way to keep going! If you find life too difficult to cope with, therapy is the answer! Please get help and soon! It certainly helped me (after I got clean of course). If you're already taking drugs, please seek help in getting OFF the drugs! Seek out a detox specialist or go inpatient if needed, but get help!

I wish you the very best! God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee
Thanks for this!

prue i don't think abusing drugs keeps one going. they if anything keep us stagnant. the illusion is that we are living life. we deserve to not live iin an abyss of nothingness. hope this helps.

amazing but ordinary question....

what if?

the one thing I know is that when it's in the system it's a part of life.

in other words...for an addicted dude...take a drug a drink a smoke a thing of desire and it's gonna need more to feed itself.

and...now this is where it gets difficult...cos do I let it take over me or am I damned either way.....?
this is my question for now and maybe for another thread...

for I am in it and I know why
Thanks for this!

I feel you Prue
Even if you give in, even if you are an addict, you are NOT ALONE in that and it is NO REASON to be ashamed or hate yourself.
With all the hard stuff you have been through, and are still going through, you have to cut yourself some slack....SO MANY people in this world use drugs to live life....but what they don't tell you when you start; is that the "drug" can and will BECOME your entire life,
And while it may appear to help right now, that may not be worth the deeper depths it will throw you into in the future.
Please take it easy girl, and don't judge yourself too harshly...most of us are addicts in one way or another!

prue there's a saying in AA....living life on life's terms. many of us face adversity/obstacles before we get clean and sober. we run away from life. living on life's terms seems overwhelming. we can't envision getting past those thoughts. but the illusions we seek are not the answer cause in the reality we are not "living". it is a choice tho. for me i've found life much more rewarding and miraculous by working towards healing and giving up the drink.
i know you well enough that you do face a lot more than others. helen keller had physical obstacles more than most for example but she strived to make her life meaningful anyway. and succeeded. nevermind what others say or do re yourself. the important thing is your overcoming your own mindset. i have never faced what you have but understand how hard it must be. but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. look towards your beautiful self, your inner being rather than the outside "shell". you are far more beautiful than you believe.
can you see a T to help you with your own feelings of lacking self-worth rather than stepping away from real life? it may help you.
