then save your *** they will. Yoda
After 30 years of very small periods of complete sobriety ( 1 to 3 years ) I stopped going to AA. I find that it puts the thought of drinking in my head and I then drink to remove it. I believe that I work the last steps automatically without trying, that my subconscious as learned behaviour that keeps me sober 99 percent of the time and when I do drink on a rare occasion all is well with no problems, but am very cautious about it, again very rare if I drink a beer or two and never any trouble with alcohol since 30 years ago. |

You're very lucky. If I drank a beer or two, I'd be off and running just like I was 20 years ago when I was drinking. It would be back to the same old thing.
![]() For a TRUE alcoholic, we cannot afford to "test the waters." We can't have just one. We can't have ANY. And to suggest to someone that just one is okay isn't a good idea. It's dangerous! True alcoholics can DIE if they "go back out for further investigation." Those of us who have achieved sobriety need to STAY sober, without having a "drink or two" just for the heck of it. That will KILL us. Maybe you weren't a REAL alcoholic. But Please don't suggest that it's okay to drink occasionally for a real alcoholic. It's NOT. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee
