is it bad to have a few drinks every now and then? once a week? what if drinking hasn't negatively effected my life? nor caused me to do any regrettable actions? even if i once drank everyday? for an unknown reason, unbeknownst to me, but looking back feeling like i was trapped into drinking every day? first time in weeks-

- had a few beers today, missing being happy

I think a lot of people would have different opinions on this... but I think you are the one who has to make that decision.

I have a history of addiction issues... I've been to rehab, lost my husband, lost custody of my kids, and lost a ton of material possessions. But my problems have always been with stimulants. Mostly cocaine. I've never had an issue with alcohol, and while I like to have a drink occasionally, I have never had a problem with drinking too much or not being able to stop. So, for me, yes, I do have a few drinks sometimes, and I don't think it's a problem. But many people, including anyone who follows a 12 step program, would tell me differently.

That does sound like moderation and I doubt anyone would classify it as addicted behaviour!

I don't know. Feeling like you were trapped into drinking every day, that sounds like a problem with yourself/your relationship with others that is centered around drinking so I'd work to figure that out and make sure I did not have any questions about my drinking such that I might be making excuses and trying to be dishonest with myself. Unless you had someone literally holding a gun to your head and telling you to drink or else, I don't see how you could be "trapped" into drinking.

i guess i just felt like i had to drink to be around people, and quite literally everyone i know abuses alcohol.. currently i feel like i cant be around people even if i get sloppy drunk
maybe its not the relationship with others but my relationship with myself..?
i've still not been drinking lately tho .. havent felt like it or anything else, depression is getting terrible

Hi. In my opinion you should decide if you will stop that habit.
