Hello all. Thank you for reading.

So I have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and ADD.

I was prescribed 10 mg of adderall per day. Took it as prescribed. And was amazed that I could actually get out of bed, get things done, and not be so sad.

Then a friend convinced me I don't need medicine, that I only need God. So I came off adderall and my antidepressant and mood stabilizer. It was hell.

I went back to my doc after a few months. He won't give me adderall anymore, because he says it's dangerous to keep going on and off meds.

But I really really want to be back on adderall. I honestly don't know if I'm an addict or if that med just really helped me, my depression is BAD.

Thank you for reading, any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you for the reply, I feel it is different for me because I do not binge on the prescription....

Get a second opinion. It's not unreasonable for you to want to be back on it.
Thanks for this!

For those with ADD, Adderall can be a lifesaver. Unfortunately, that is not understood by many, because of its potential for abuse in those who do not suffer from ADD/ADHD. I have seen this fact cause feelings of shame and confusion in acquaintances who do benefit in a healthy way from this medication.

I abused Adderall in the past (I do not need it, I absolutely do not suffer from ADD) and it ended up changing my mood and behavior to the point that I felt out of control. However, it sounds like Adderall is helping you regain control, and that is a good thing, in my opinion. I hope that discussing the issue further with your doctor, or getting a second opinion, will bring you peace and clarity, whatever that decision is.

if ok
