Forgive me if that sounded callous or trivial for those of us who have had struggle to get clean, only to succeed to some degree, whether its a day, a month, a year, or a decade.

Its only day 14 for me, but Things are improving. My head is clear, my health has improved, and Im exercising daily. Theres still some dietary issues I have to deal with but Ill get there....My face is showing signs of clearing and Im losing weight. My blood pressure is back to normal and my sleeping pattern is back to a healthy normal.

This may help encourage someone or it may not....however it doesnt seem like very exciting testimony to those who battle wih substance abuse. But if it serves to help at least ONE person....it is woth the post.

Congratulations on getting clean! I'm sure it will be a difficult journey for you, but it sounds very promising. All the best love and luck!

Your testimony is exciting news, Introvrtd. We all stay sober one day at a time...& you've been sober for 14 days. BIG news. Thanks for sharing how your life has improved since getting clean. I'm sure your post will help others. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks for this!

Day 20.......what is normal anymore?

Im feeling great....there are some relapses of anxiety, but I know its minor and passes quickly....the difference is.....it doesn't scare or bother me anymore....its just a manifestation of getting clean.....detoxing, if you will....

Sleeping normally.....I still need the CPAP....so I dont wake up several times during the night, gasping for air....

I past by the beer and wine section of the grocery store today.....without thought, I didnt stop or paruse.....I just....simply.....walked by......what the heck is that?......I cant believe I did it!! No second thoughts....

Guess Im at the point now where I dont feel the need to get high or drunk.....its really starting to happen.....my body is changing.....turning to the good and the healthy....

ramble.....

Congrats on your sobriety!! I'm so glad to hear you've already been able to feel the positive changes in your health. Twenty days is a long time and you should feel proud! For me after the first month I felt that I didn't need drinks or drugs. The best part of sobriety for me was the freedom from self-bondage. I hated the absolute power I was living under. I was always restless and worrying about my next high. Nothing was enjoyable unless it included drinking or drugging. It's just a huge albatross around your neck. Keep up the good work!

It's great to hear that your healthy living & thinking continue to grow. Twenty days is a real accomplishment...One day at a time, 30 days is on the horizon. I've got you in my thoughts. It's always inspiring to hear of someone who takes control of their demons.

Way to go!!! I felt like poo when I quit smoking. I kept coughing up yucky stuff. A hot bath or shower helps sweat out those toxins.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.....

Things are looking up...My biggest fear is that moment I get tired of feeling good for a change, .....then start to feel invincible.....which could lead to thinking I need (or just want) to have a drink.....

So far NO!!

Im taking probiotics......supposed to be good for the gut flora promoting healthy bacteria over the bad.....it has a die-off effect, which makes me sometimes feel like crap due to all the toxins that now flood my bloodstream, and eventually get eliminated thru sweat and bladder......

With all the drinking Ive done, my liver was working overtime to get rid of it all....now...can concentrate on eliminating toxins without dealing with the alcohol too.

Drink lots of filtered water. Target sells a brita pitcher and that cuts way back on plastic bottles. I like sleepy time tea with valerian root and melatonin takes the edge off the withdrawals. Way to go ♥♥♥

Yeah, Im drinking sleepytime tea and still flushing myself out with lemon water. These probiotics are also keeping the bad bacteria in my gut at bay....I dont crave junk food much, and I dont overeat anymore. Im now looking forward to dropping the unwanted pounds and to intensify my workouts.

Thanks all, for the continued encouragement!

You're doing great and I really advice exercise. This last year I got sober I've gained a ton of weight. I'm paying for it now with a huge catch up to do walking and eating healthy. My shrink tells me what works better than any psych med is sobriety exercise and volunteering if you're not working.

Great job. Depending on your drug of choice and how much you used withdrawal can be a *****. Sleepy time tea helped so much i was ready to roll it up and smoke it. haha just kidding. sleepy time tea and melotonin did help alot. and alot of sweating. I had to detox from meth so it took a long time for my brain chemistry to get back to normal. I had to rely on the psychiatrist for that.

Yes absolutely seek help from a therapist or shrink if needed. I was self medicating for a lot of mental disorders that needed meds. But, know that withdrawal can mimic A LOT of mental illness. Post acute withdrawal syndrome or paws causes a emotions that mimic bipolar etc.
