Hey All,
This isn't a new problem with me but I keep having to confront it. I think I have a few things going on-definitely overeating, definitely a compulsive spender, and definitely a problem drinker. For instance, this weekend I had 5 drinks one night and 3 the next, despite taking 100mg of Zoloft daily. I know this is bad. I don't have a lot of close friends but I do live with my boyfriend. He claims that I don't have a drinking problem. I saw myself in the mirror today and I think this is the heaviest I've ever weighed, besides other less obvious problems that come with my drinking. Today is my second night not drinking this week and I've noticed I'm pretty bummed out all day. I keep thinking about having a drink. I know if I keep not drinking it will be easier but once I start drinking I kind of can't stop. I am looking here for support. Thank you. |

Hey ramblinclementine,
I think it's great that you want to tackle your drinking - alcohol and psych meds really don't mix well. It's totally normal for you to feel down when first quitting, I know I always do. But it gets better with time. As for the compulsive spending, I can definitely relate to that. It's a major problem for me too. I'm now on a really tight budget, but that doesn't seem to stop me - that's my next big challenge. Good luck and keep posting here for support. splitimage |

The alcohol is probably undermining the Zoloft's benefit. Your boyfriends sounds like he would rather you continue drinking. Wonder what's up with that?

Good question. Maybe cause I'm good at hiding my drinking? Maybe cause he's addicted to pot lately? Maybe cause drinking is a way we've been able to get along living in a tiny apartment together...
