Hello friendslora: I'm sorry I cannot be of help with regard to treatment centers in Springfield, Mo. But I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So I thought I would leave a brief note welcoming you to PsychCentral. I hope you find helpful.

I am BP and have a substance use disorder. I go to support groups for both. Crossover is very common in both groups; we are often discussing substance use recovery at DBSA meeting and dealing with other disorders often comes up at recovery meetings. My point is that it really is not uncommon and I would be surprised if you didn't find that most rehabs commonly treat dual diagnosis patients.

Do you have a PCP that you could talk to? Or even a close friend? Maybe a family member? I realized my addiction was getting out of hand and finally opened up to a family member and took a step into getting treatment. I'm not completely sober, but it's not as bad as it used to be.
Best of luck to you.

I second the suggestion of telling your doc (PCP). If you don't quit, your doctor should know what you are using. They don't violate patient confidentiality and they won't prescribe something with a bad interaction if they know what you are using. And they will encourage you to stop, help you if you need it, refer you to the right people if you need that. But good docs will not turn their back on you even if you don't stop.

Most reputable rehabilitation facilities have programs for the dually diagnosed. The first time I went to rehab they forgot (!!!) to do my psych eval, but when I was readmitted they put me in a different program. World of difference!

Definately do a search for dual dignanoses in your area. You may have to do a little digging because some will say they will treat you. But what they mean is that you have to go to detox before they will treat mental illness. You need someone who will treat both at the same time.
