whisperingskye,

I'm both sorry and appalled that you can't get a detox admission sooner, as your resolve to become sober will be tested between now and then.

But if your professionals are telling you not to stop on your own, listen to them, and try to minimize your drinking between now and your intake. I've had 2 withdrawal seizures, plus experienced hallucinations when attempting to detox on my own. You do not want to have to experience that.

Keep posting here as much as you want, while waiting for detox.

I am trying to cut back. I had managed to reduce it for a couple of weeks, but then it crept back up the last two weeks. My mental health has been declining and I think that’s not been helping matters. So yeah, I am now trying to cut down again, I just need more self control. Need to learn to be strict with myself which is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I haven't posted on this thread in a long time. I'm still sober & working the A.A. program to the best of my ability. I know many of you don't like the program & that's perfectly fine; different things work for different people. One thing that helps me in A.A. is hearing my story come from the mouths of other people. When I first came to the program I thought I was "unique." Upon hearing other folks share their experiences & drinking histories, I realized I'm not a "unique" individual when it comes to alcohol - I'm certainly not a "unique" drunk. The program "caught me" when I needed it most.

It's the kind of the same same with "unique rabbits"...they're out there, BTW. Do you know how to catch them? "Unique" up on them...

Sorry. I'll leave now...

60 days with no alcohol or crack. My doc gave me a script for Adderall and I took an extra one for a week. Threw the last five in the trash. That stuff ruins relationships....puts up a wall. I will have to delete that from the list too. Seems like my body can not handle any form of drugs or alcohol. I was created to be sober. I'm glad I didn't drink over the Adderall crash. It was horrible. Physically and mentally exhausted. Had to take three days off work. Crying for no reason... depressed
Adderall is like any other harmful substance. It made me think it was a miracle drug but ended up consuming me. My husband shared with me...another bad idea. He got messed up to. Out of respect I won't go into the details of that.

I abused Adderall for quite a while. I got stuck in the bad cycle - alcohol to sleep and Adderall to wake up.

I relapsed yesterday, and finished off a few beers this morning. Going to try to stay sober the rest of today and make tomorrow my new day 1.
