It's kind of funny, I haven't done coke in something like seven years and I still have dreams about it. Last night I dreamed that I scored an eight ball and a whole wacky adventured ensued. I really felt the effects of the drug in the dream and was loving it. Then, in the end, I somehow got busted (I don't remember how) and I was having to admit to everyone that I was an addict. This last point is especially curious since I'm pretty open about that already.

I woke up craving a line like you wouldn't believe.

I'm fine. It's just a strange dream. Thought I'd share.

Hi Cy, i get those dreams too about my past drug habits. They do seem so real. What i cant stand is when someone has a new oven and they burn it that first time, my god it smells that sweet smell just like crack does. I have to run out and run fast.

It's weird because of the idea that our bodies change cells over a 7 year period so one wonders where the "memories" and experiences are stored that they don't get flushed eventually? And how come addiction is still a problem forever; you'd think you'd get a new lease on life.

Well, according to that link (and what I know of neuroscience) neurons don't regenerate.

I stayed clean for 12 years and 11 months the first time I quit, and still had occasional dreams! This time it's only been 3 years, but the dreams are very infrequent now, thank God.

hey cyran,

ive noticed via the threads that you havent seemed to be doing so well lately, i think its very possible that at this time you're feeling vulnerable, therefore the thoughts of use have been haunting you through your unconcoius, ie. dreams. sorry i dont have much else to say....just remember, this too shall pass. stay strong, keep on truckin.

Actually someone further down in the "discussion" pointed out that it's now known that neurons do regenerate, or at least you can "go around" old ones and come up with new.

I have to agree with Mel here. I have drunk dreams when somethings going on in my life thats taking my focus away from recovery. Its like a little reminder saying "hey...you're an alcoholic, here's a dream so you get back to your recovery being first". My friends and I like to call them "freelapses". Coke Dreams Always so so grateful it was just a dream, but it makes me look at what might be lacking in my recovery program. I always share about it when I have those dreams, so its good that you shared about it. While the dreams always put me into gratitude, I still treat them like a red flag.

Hope you feel better soon Cy. Feel free to PM if you need a shoulder.

Coke Dreams

Mel, Ray, I think you're probably right. A sort of drug addict wish fulfillment thing. And thanks for the PM offer Ray.

Perna, I stand corrected. Coke Dreams

I'm feeling ok about the dream. It wasn't real, I'm still behaving.

Thank you for the support. You guys rock.

Hey Cyran0, I have been off crack/coke for over 6 years too. I also dream about it and sometimes fantasize about using it. Strange, I have been sober for just short of 2 years and I never have drinking dreams....the coke just seems to have a bigger hold on me.

Hang in there....

I agree D. There's something unique about cocaine. Or at least, there seems to be something unique about it's hold on you and I. I know I'll crave it forever and I think I'll always have these dreams.

But I'm sober. I'm not going to get high. So the cravings can just kiss my ***. Coke Dreams

When I was a early teen I started lsd for a while(not addicting to me though) then went to meth, that was probably the worst addiction I had for a few years, did some powder also, but I don't think it took hold, since its effect was dwarfed to me compared to meth.

After all that at around age 22approx. I started just smoking weed and countinued for many years, then quit ....

I do have dreams still just like you mentioned, but about smoking weed, that actually seem to have the "real " effects, just like you described, with me it was even that intense high, almost to high, if your a smoker and quit for a week or so then start back, but I always regret starting back in my dreams and am happy to wake up and realize it was just a dream
