My name is Melissa and I'm an addict. I've smoked pot just about everyday since I was 13. When I started it was not really everyday but at least every 2 weeks. As I got out on my own is when it really went to everyday. I have had 2 yrs of non-smoking but all not together. I've have relasped. There I said it. It motivates me to function.Been on Prozac for 2 months now but it makes me massive tired. I done every other drug that does not include needles with no problems putting them down and walking away. But I can't do that for this. About to move again(long story) and want to make this new begining a good begining. Thanks for listening.-----Mel

Hi melissa1202....
I have been where you are. That place of wanting something that is somehow just outside our reach...That frustration that comes from not getting it feeds the shortening of our grasp... ![]() In my experience most things that involve considered change boil down to making a decision. Not saying we will try or think about it or wait until a better time. But a decision. Do it or don't. Sometimes deciding not to do it allows us to abuse our behavior enough to decide again..this time..to do it. If you decide,,truely decide that you will smoke no more and do everything necessary to support that decision......then you will smoke no more. Until then,,,you are thinking about it... With Care, Lenny

mel, only you can make the decision to put down the weed. there are self help programs out there free for the taking. at least for this recovering addict/alcoholic it helped me cause i got such unconditional support there. i don't think i could have been successful had i not gone there, jme. food for thought...i wish you well on your move and hope it is a new "beginning" for you.

Hello Melissa,
Got to be a lot of reasons for a 14 year old to be smoking dope. You probably grew up being your own "parent". Time for you to buck up and make a decision. Are you sick and tired of your ball and chain? Or are you going to lug it around a few more years? notz

Hi Mel, I also started drinking and doing drugs when I was just a kid. My first memories of addiction are when I was 11 years old. Sometimes it is tough to figure out what was caused by addiction and what was just the highs and lows of adolescence. Any way you put it, the drugs have caused a lot of problems in my life. I hope you can find a way to get off pot because it will never bring any good to your life. What did you do to get clean the last time? Please, do whatever it takes to get clean because life is short and being stoned robs you of precious time. Take care.

Mel, you should ask your doctor if there is anything to help with the tiredness the prozac if causing. Doctors sometimes prescribe wellbutrin along with another anti depressant like prozac. Wellbutrin acts to help provide more energy, so I've been told. Maybe now your move is over, it is a good time to make a comittment to yourself. My thought are with you. ![]()
