Seriously these questions account for most of the topics in this forum. Why do people wonder about this more than any other personality disorder?

I think some people think it's 'cool' to be labelled with something like that. Like they're a bad a_s or something

Because they did or thought something so dark it scared the cr** out of them.

I always thought if you had one of these "disorders" you'd have to be told as opposed to independently thinking there's something wrong. I was told I had antisocial traits (or dissocial as it's referred to here), I still don't think it's a problem.

Same here I was told I have traits and a couple of psychs said I have the full blown disorder (I don't know about that), and I guess case in point here, I don't care lol. |

Well, in my opinion, if you want to be like this, there's something wrong with you lol, but you're not a psychopath. It's not something you can just attain like studying hard and acing a math test, it's just something you are. And let me say, frankly, it's not cool and doesn't make you badass, and can cause complications in your life if you don't know how to keep yourself under control.
Everybody wants to be psycho but I guarantee if it came right down to it most of these tryhards would piss themselves when confronted by someone who actually was like that. Maybe you do fantasize about violence, but then again so do a lot of people. But frankly, in order for me to even consider taking you seriously you'd have to be fine with brutal torture and mass murder for the sheet sadism and hell of it, not because you have issues. Stop trying to be something you aren't, it just reeks of desperation. |

They should knock it off. Personally, I think if you're trying to be like this, there's something wrong with you, but being a psychopath is not it. It's not even cool to be this way, it can have devastating effects on your life if you don't know how to manage yourself properly and instill discipline within yourself. Thinking murder is cool doesn't make you badass or even a psycho, and not all psychos murder anyway. ****, take it from me, it has its advantages, but you're better off without it.
And P. S. just stop, you tryhards reek of desperation, and you're just embarrassing yourselves. |

Well, I can't speak for others but I'm genuinely concerned. I've noticed my personality has changed for the worst over the last 5 to 7 years. I do think I need a professional diagnosis. I guess I'm just not ready. My main concern is how it will impact my relationship with my 9yo daughter.

The best telling sign is probably your childhood. If you, like me, were throwing cats off of your roof just to see if they could walk later, trying to drown dogs for the hell of it, almost burned down your house, played with fire, got drunk/high/whatever and stole a car (and many other things), been arrested multiple times, and had no real regard for the safety of others all before the age of 15, then you might be a real, genuine psychopath. But most of the time I try to keep it hidden from people. |

Its not fair to the people on PC who are trying to get better. Yes a person with an untreated PD can be a holy terror however if that person is looked at within the context of their family many times it will make sense. |
