Hi all,
Just wondering is there many people that suffer from Anxiety disorder that don't take meds and just try to get through it naturally with exercise, diet and maybe some CBT??? Cognative Behavioural Therapy??? I really don't want to go down the road of having to take meds. I would suffer high states of anxiety on and off throughout the year but sometimes i can go months feeling okay. I don't have depression and anxiety i would get down in the dumps sometimes because of my anxiety. The holistic path would be the way i would like to go. Does anyone have any ideas? I fear being sick and loosing my hair from worry and stress so maybe its Health Anxiety i suffer from as my fears or something dreadful is gonna happen to me or my family. |

While I do take meds, I am of the belief that they are not for everyone. However, I found by combining taking medication with behavioral therapy (meditaion, stress reduction) has worked best, rather than one or the other... With meditation, I have found with racing thoughts (helps I found out I am ADHD too) that it is almost impossible (for me anyway) to do the "totally clear your mind and think of nothing" type meditation. However, there are guided and "free flowing" meditations out there. (Free flowing meaning you allow thoughts to "flow" through your mind, not "attaching" to any of them.) So even though I do take meds, I hope this helps! ![]()

I don't take any meds for my GAD I also have OCD and BIpolar and I don't take any meds for those either. It is really hard. sometimes I feel that I should just give up and get meds but I am really undecided on how I feel about them. Its up to you if you feel you can do. go for it. I wish noone had to take meds becasue there are alot of side effects. Let us know what you decide.

I no longer take meds for my GAD. Since my depression has been in remission my GAD has eased up somewhat too. I have anxiety every day in some form or another but I seem to get passed it somehow. My panic attacks are also few and far between now. I really hated taking meds so I am glad that with breathing and exercise and better ways of handling stress, that I am able to cope.
