I've had social and General anxiety for about 20 years. Having been in therapy for many years (and on/off of several medications), I've decided to try hypnosis. I figured it may or may not help, but it certainly can't hurt. I was just wondering if anybody else has tried hypnosis, and if so did you find it helped?
For some reason the benzo-type medications didn't work very well for me. I've tried them at various times throughout adult life, but it seems that they work in the beginning, only to lose effectiveness over time. I quit taking Xanax about a month ago and I'm just searching for a different way. Gobbles |

there are lots of hypnosis videos on you tube
maybe see if those are helpful at all and then pursue a therapist locally |

Dear Gobbles,,, i have been using a technology to heal the brain, for about 5 yrs now, it's called CenterPoint (you can research it at CenterPointe Research Institute.com) (don't be offended by the snake oil oversell),, it has really helped me to calm down. What it does is feed a different beat into each ear, with stereo headphones, and that makes the brain try to reconnect the two halves, and that helps it find it's balance. If that makes any sense to you,,, all i can say is: no med helped me, no therapy either, but this has, and it's effects are safe, not dangerous, and permanent~! PM me if you want to talk more about it. best wishes

I'm going to give this a try, if it can replace xanax then it is worthwhile, thank you Gus for posting this,

I'll check out youtube and see what I can find; good idea. And, Gus, I am interested in anything that could possibly make this better. Not sure how to use the PM function, but once I figure it out I would like to send you one.

I was hypnotized by a therapist when I was about 14. I remember when I came out of it I felt really relaxed and like I had just gotten a whole nights sleep. It worked for a little while but it was definitely not a permanent fix. It was worth it for the short term relief.
I so hope you have good results and look forward to hearing about it. It's something I think I may like to try again. Thanks for posting this. I had completely forgotten about this option. ![]()
