Hey,
This summer i have been experiencing a lot of de ja vu. I started to notice I was having it everyday, and it got to the point where I would ave it as much as 4 or 5 times a day, and sometimes it would last for up to 3 minutes. When it happens I feel scared, terrified something bad is going to happen, like I'm going to die. Nothin bad has happened, and for that reason that feeling has eased, and so has the de ja vu, but I still get it daily. I finally went to the doctor today and first thought was I'm depressed, I'm fairly sure I'm not. I've been depressed, I've been to the very bottom. Sometimes though I wonder if I'm just kidding myself and maybe I am depressed. But anyway she sent me away with a typical depression form thing to fill out and I'm going back next week. I think it's a case of ruling other things out, to be safe to confirm it is my anxiety and nothing like temporal lobe epilepsy or scarier. I guess my question is, has anyone else had anything like this with de ja vu? And did you put it down to anxiety in the end? |

Hi, CTotoro, welcome to PsychCentral (PC).
There are some medical and psychiatric conditions that may have deja vu associated with them like epilepsy and schizophrenia sometimes, for example. Here's an interesting British article about a University of Leeds researcher studying deja vu: http://www.world-science.net/otherne..._dejavufrm.htm

Epilepsy isn't a psychiatric condition; epileptic patients are more likely to have comorbid psychiatric conditions but epilepsy alone is not a psychiatric condition.
Dejavue is one of the symptoms of TLE and you would probably be tested for TLE considering you say you do not feel depressed, relating it to your previous bouts of depression. I hope you get it sorted and it stops bothering you
