I absolutely am sensitive to certain sounds as well, though I think I have misophonia. Some sounds just provoke incoherent rage.

![]() I can't stand loud noises of any kind, and I wear earplugs to bed every night. Or I wouldn't be able to sleep. I've got a white noise/sound machine in every room, and I use them a lot. Recently, we had a power outage which meant no sound machines. Or fans (it was hot), music (it helps me cope with neighbors), etc. And I was able to hear my upstairs neighbor, every #$%^&*? bloody STEP. Old biddy! ![]() I hate jackhammers, leaf blowers, tree trimming saws (I think they are called chain saws), construction noise, revving car engines, etc. Also hate squeaks and rattles. Once my shopping cart was rattling around in my trunk. I had to pull over and reposition it so it won't rattle anymore. Drove me nuts while driving. ![]()

Yep, I have misophonia. The sound of people eating anything drives me NUTS and I get really irritable. It's for a lot of noises too like sniffling and coughing or rustling of paper. It was so bad when I was a teen I had to wear headphones to dinner or eat in a seperate room

Until I had a conversation with someone else about this, I had no idea that there was actually a name for it. I can't stand the sounds of eating, either, especially when the person scrapes the utensil with their teeth. Drives me crazy. I am also sensitive to high-pitched voices.
There is a guy in my office that, for whatever reason, likes to do things like whistle, clap his hands, drum on his desk with his hands or a pen, and snap his fingers. It's really distracting. Thanks to meds and having my desk moved, he's at less of a risk of being punched in the face. |

To make apartment living somewhat bearable, I have several white-noise/nature sounds machines. I wear earplugs to bed every night.
I have music on all the time (except when watching TV or sleeping of course), even in the shower. I can't stand all the noises I hear daily: Esp. door slamming, the sound of HEELS, engines starting, people running, people slamming the dumpster lid, the sound of the shower above me, the leaf blowers, the garbage trucks, the gardeners hosing down the patio, etc. It all drives me batty. I could on and on about all the sounds I hear. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Oh, yes, babies/children's noise really gets to me, too. It seems like they have this habit of shrieking that sounds like it can cut through glass. The other day I was in a bookstore, and had to use the bathroom. There was a woman and her child in there, and the kid was making these "happy noises" at some ungodly volume. I think I broke the world record for peeing just so that I could get out of there. Whatever happened to "use your indoor voice"?
