Hello my friends;

I have been wandering around the web lately; and everywhere I go...everybody & I mean everybody....wants instant messenging and/or chat rooms. Re: Embarrassed about chat?

I am wrong for being terrified of "chat"? People don't seem to think before they hit the "Send" button, it moves faster than an auctioneer....it scares the be-jeezus out of me! Re: Embarrassed about chat?

Am I just too old? Should I switch lanes to "old and decrepit" lane of life? I'm only 43 biologically; 30-something mentally, and 20-something in spirit....Am I
just defective? Re: Embarrassed about chat?

No Dayzee!!! I think that is normal. I will go to chat every now and then but only when I feel comfortable. IMing is pretty much the same. It's ok, your not out of the ordinary.

I am glad to see you posting again. I missed you. I hope all is well. PM me sometime. Take care!!

Huggles,

Jen

(((hugs))) um... that IS part of anxiety, imo. I do NOT IM at all! I don't even reply to emails unless I'm "up" to it... the chat room here is pretty friendly... I've been to many other sites who have smaller windows and fewer icons to denote who is talking... and they fly sometimes maliciously (flooding and stuffing) and I dread going there... but here... you can create your own chat room and make the rules like S L O W D O W N please. hehehe Yeah, I know the feeling.. [b]<font color="blue"> There are 1 people in 4 rooms.

nope you're not alone I don't do chats often either because by the time I know whats going on the conversation is off in a new direction and so on. I like instant messaging (yahoo and msn have free instant messaging downloads). With IM (instant messaging) I'm talking to only one person at a time and so I can keep track of whats happening much better. I also like Im because it's like taking on the phone (but free)

For what it's worth, I don't think it has to do with age. I'm twenty and I don't think I have the guts to go anywhere the chat room on this site unless there are enough people there that I can just be kind of invisible.

I don't like chat rooms either, not when they're loaded with people. I prefer one-on-one IMing or a very, very small conference room, no more than 4 people. Otherwise it just gets too hard to follow. You don't know who's talking to who, if they're answering you or someone else. The page scrolls so fast I can't keep up. If you scroll back up to read, when someone adds a new reply it plunks you back down to the bottom of the text.

It can be fun if it's a close group of friends and you're all talking about the same thing, not really addressing any one person in particular but rather the group as a whole. Entering into a large chat already in progress? FUHGEDABOUDIT Re: Embarrassed about chat?
