I woke up about a half hour before getting up and felt anxious. Lately, I wake up anxious in the middle of the night atleast two to three times a night. How does one stop doing that? I also worry myself into a headache. How can I stop that? I have a slight headache right now.
Can negative thinking be connected to anxiety in addition to depression? I am used to being sad sometimes. But the anxiety is something that I am not experienced with. What is GAD like?

I wake up in the middle of the night really anxious too. It's very annoying because even though I might only be unable to sleep for an hour or hour and a half I still have to get up for work the next day. It messes up my routine and makes it hard for me to get up in the morning. As if it's not hard enough already. If I take an anxiety tablet in the middle of the night I find it almost impossible to get up in the morning. A few times I have been more than just a bit late for work. Oops. Easier to take the tablet before I go to sleep, but then how do I know that I am going to have one of those anxiety nights? Pretty silly set up, I say. Hope you are having uninterrupted sleep soon.

Negative thinking is definitely a contributor to anxiety, IMO. It can always make anything worse. I'm used to thinking negatively about things, too. If I do not change how I am thinking about something, my anxiety, depression, etc. will get worse for sure.

Try using self-soothing techniques along with positive thinking. As soon as you are thinking negatively about something challenge it with a positive thought.

Example:

Thought: I can't handle this.
Challenge: I can handle this.
