Ok so I have found out from T in yesterdays session that I have anticipatory anxiety. I have anxiety meds that I have started taking again and they help but I dont want to be on them forever. So she thinks the anticipatory anxiety sets me up to self sabotage(because I expect the worse going into anything) which them leads to the horrible depressions I fall into. First I have to figure out how to deal with the anxiety? And that is where I am stuck...that is why I take the meds because I dont know how to handle because not on the meds I dont always necessarily FEEL the anxiety. How do I fix something I dont notice?

![]() Well, you are on the journey of learning and you will gradually learn what triggers the anxiety and then you'll learn coping strategies in how to handle it. Your T should give you some ways to cope, such as positive self-talk, relaxation techniques and safe-place visualization.

Hi MELISSSAD81
Join the club... I also have just started down that same exact road. I went to her in tears soon after getting the meds because my 'protective blanket' was stripped off! We shall try be brave together, ok? My Pdoc gives me advice and support like pegasus describes, like CBT, role play - learning assertavness, relaxation etc. It helps a lot, but when a situation arises!, 'Now there's the problem". Slowly, slowly, step-by-step seems to be the way to go... Keep on keeping on |
