My friend was having what amounted to a panic attack. Staring at white noise, perfectly random tv snow or static puts me in what is a dead ringer for the antianxiety , calming theta brainwave state so I asked her to try it. In 3 minutes i watcher her attack totally disappear and she reported total calm. To get the random static, one must have a tv pre 2005, called analogue, It may say that on the back.Take the cable off and turn the set to a non broadcast channel displaying only black dots jumping around on a white background, so called tv snow or static. Newer than that, which are digital, digital tv's dont display tv snow , instead display a blue screen, when turned to a non broadcast channel, or even if the blue screen can be defeated the snow is not random, same for the internet which is digital also. I turn the sound down all the way as its disturbing and merely look at the static, the so called snow. You can get the static when the set is turned to a non broadcast channel such as when the cable is off the set or if you turn the channel to other than 4 . Make sure there is no bleedthrough from a broadcast channel. The effect is so profound on anxiety and calming that it will be obvious to anyone in a few secondsseconds.. Also works that fast on totally aborting the manic phase of my neighbors mania with no resulting depression. Other ways of creating so called white noise do not work, they are not random , all frequency. I have reason to believe that it works because it puts one in the theta brainwave state, a hightly valued and strived for healing and relaxing state which is also attained via hypnosis or swimming (hearing the sound) dolphins make. Please post your experience should you try it..
PS, I just saw that someone tried this for her panic and said it did in fact calm her down, posted in my tv snow thread in bipolar forum . Steve Lord Last edited by stevelord; Aug 05, 2012 at 03:20 AM. |

I had another friend today try this method and she said she tried looking at the tv snow for 2 to 3 minutes with the sound off on her analogue tv set and she sent me this note about her results.
"um I have panic anxiety anger heartache the whole kit and kaboodle it reduced it dramatically, all of it" She added that it made her feel "peaceful" Steve Lord[ |

Moranganal, she found that her problems partly came back and so she repeated the looking at the snow for even less time than the two minutes the first time, and that finally eliminated her problems for at least the rest of today, and she was really going nuts and suffering very badly before she tried this , now she is feeling good. She may or may not have to repeat this tomorrow to feel good again, we shall see, , I will try to ask her tomorrow.

Sorry Perna, I have tried intenet tv snow cia several videos and it didnt work well it being digital; Wikipedia offers this reason why digital tv's would not work well, "Due to the algorithmic functioning of a digital television set's electronic circuitry and the inherent quantization of its screen, the "snow" seen on digital TV is less random"..But the same article claims a a blank vhs tape would match an analogue tv static, I dont know if it gives the same effect because I havent tested it.

Im wondering if someone will try this and let me know what happens, because more than five people now have claimed that it aborted their panic attack in a minute or 2 . Simply stare at any spot of skin on your body, a little spot on your knuckle would be easiest, for a couple of minutes when anxious or in panic and tell me how much of it was eliminated before and after doing that and what percent, if any, comes back in the minutes afterwards. The theory behind this working is over the last several million years when we were injured we would examine the injury over and over to see how bad and to check its progress, thus evolving a gene triggered by us looking at any part of our body now which is useful for healing and other benefits from doing so .

I find that focusing on ANYTHING other than my fear helps me beat panic. Particularly if it is something that I believe will help me.

No, I am not currently experiencing panic symptoms. I have been using therapy to beat my anxiety. It's working wonderfully. Therapy is awesome, I recommend it to everyone.

SO did anyone try either of the two methods I described in this thread for panic attack?
Thanks, Steve Lord |
