My therapist told me last week that along with having severe anxiety she thinks a lot of my fears and thoughts are irrational! Here's what's going on... I'm pretty sure I'm a hypochondriac (my mom is a severe one) but any time I feel a pain or something weird is my body I FREAK OUT and assume the worst... Currently right now I'm having a weird taste in mouth and my back teeth and gums hurt.. I have had some dental work in past 5 weeks and an infection in mouth from dental work but dentist says this should cause my taste and pain?? So I of course assume after much research that do Something is terribly wrong with me... Anything from cancer to more gum disease to ANYTHING possible... Once it's in my head I can't stop thinking about it and freaking myself out... Just wish I knew how to stop this...... ??? Any help is much appreciated

Breathe. It sounds like you have an anxiety disorder. I would consult a dr because it is treatable with medication...

As soon as you realize you are starting to over think what may be wrong with you you need to stop yourself and breathe maybe count to 10 and take deep breaths as you do. Then try to rationalize. The beauty about the human body is that a HUGE majority of the time it is seriously nothing (I do a lot of what you do as well) you have to be very logical and as calm as humanly possible when you are researching because the internet can give you lots of false information. If you have done the research and you still feel that it may be something very serious then go to the doctor (or dentist or whatever the required would be) and until you go to visit them DO NOT THINK ABOUT IT. Just push it out of your mind and when you feel it start to rise back up just stop whatever you are doing and take several slow deep breaths and just imagine taking this worry and placing it in a box and closing the lid and only open it when you go and visit your doctor. I really hope this helps you because nothing is worse than being freaked out all the time! I know this feeling very well. Best of luck and feel free to message me if you want to continue this conversation!
