Happy Friday. I cannot seem to get a handle on analyzing most everything, down to the smallest things that happen. I guess it's questioning "why?" for almost everything that happens, or going over and over a stupid mistake, torturing myself. I know it's ridiculous. I feel this need to know why everything happens, or what everyone is thinking, even though I know logically it is not possible. Do you ever find yourself doing this? How have you been able to overcome it?

I do it all the time. Mostly with ppl's comments or decisions I hav made. It could be that you hav just an obsessive personality. I dont hav any advice as I struggle with this as well... but I wanted to let you know that I can relate.

Mistakes are not evidence you are "stupid" - just evidence that you built
a perfect self you "should" be with your limitless imagination when you were a powerless kid, and it exists in your unconscious mind and calls you stupid for
any mistake. You "know" with your realistic and conscious mind it is ridiculous
but have to talk back to that 100% perfect self whenever you hear it calling you stupid! Practice will make you better at it, NOT PERFECT! Good luck,
Pitsy!

All the time I do this and it has caused me every problem todate, well not every but near enough. So no you are not alone in this, however I don't know how to stop the thought's or worries and everything else that then ticks in because of anxiety. However I am thinking of you and sending you hugs wishing you all the best MIP

I think overanalyzing is what goes wrong when a curious, analytical, and motivated mind gets tripped up by anxiety.

I struggle with over thinking things on a daily basis. Sometimes I can get control of it by telling myself I can think about the issue in 15 minutes but I need to do something else instead first. If I am lucky, I will forget about it.

Today this didn't work. I made myself sick at work by letting the thoughts take over. I had to go home and take a nap to get it to stop.

Oh my gosh, I can absolutely relate!! I do the same thing almost every day. I am still trying to work on this, but I think part of it is that I am a really sensitive person. The other part is that I need to offer myself forgiveness for my actions and either let it go or speak up when someone else says something that bothers me, instead of letting myself replay the moments over and over again. I think it's something that you have to practice: to continually stay in the present, not mentally "time travel" to the past. I am like CloudyDay99 and will try to distract myself + force myself to sleep to get rid of it.

I hope you find some relief!!!
