I have a problem that is causing me terrible anxiety. I have OCD, so I worry about everything. One of my breasts is larger than the other. It might even be a whole cup size bigger. I stand in front of the mirror for long periods of time looking at them. I have examined them for lumps, and found nothing, but I am still worried. I am to embarrased to talk to my doctor about this. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Mine are the same way. One is actually a full cup size bigger. It makes it hard to shop for bras but I have talked to my nurse before and she said it was normal. I trust her.

Once i found out it was normal it was easier for me to accept and try to ignore. It made it easier to not focus on.

I hope that helps a little

i have a friend who has that same problem. however, i think that all womens breasts are a little mis-proportioned. unless you have surgery, one is always going to be a bit bigger than the other, and even if you do have surgery, they still are not going to be just perfect. my words of wisdom...be happy with the body you have. god created it that way for a reason.

Most women have some varying degrees of asymetry. Even with surgery, breasts aren't always idential. They are like eyebrows... sisters, but not twins. Do not be embarassed to talk to your doc, it is so normal.

"Breasts are usually asymmetrical, meaning that one woman's breast may be a different size or shape than her other breast. Interestingly, a woman's left breast is usually a little larger then her right breast, though this is only a generalization. (It is also quite common for men to have one testicle that is a different size or shape than the other)"

From: http://www.afraidtoask.com/breast/breastsize.html

I've never even looked to see if mine are different sizes. Thanks for the interesting post, Angel!

As long as your breasts are healthy, love them My Breasts...Women Only Please, May Trigger

My mummy died of breast cancer so I have ABSOLUTELY no patience for people who whine about their boobs.

Mine are pretty much equal but they go up and down in size round the 'time of the month' - for a few days I pop out of my bra ... My Breasts...Women Only Please, May Trigger

Please take care of yourself but I must say: if you're worried about what a guy might think, you know what? they (even if they are long term bf or husband) are usually so happy to have a pair of moons in their face they are HARDLY going to measure (they'll be too excited My Breasts...Women Only Please, May Trigger )

take care!

My breasts are also different sizes.

My right is an average B and my left is a large C. I buy my bras in size C and I always buy the type that have the small padding things that can be removed - and I remove the left one and add it to the right side (so that the right side has 2 pads and the left side has none).

And then they look like they are the same size. My Breasts...Women Only Please, May Trigger

I don't know how old you are Angel, but have you ever gone to have a yearly pap smear and gynological physical? Part of that yearly exam includes the doctor checking the breasts for abnormalities like lumps, bumps, etc...

If you have had a yearly exam with a breast exam within the past year then the doctor would have noticed any abnormalities. If you have not had an exam within the past year, or if you have never had an exam, then you might consider calling a gynocologist to make an appointment for a pap and physical exam.

Although many women wait until they are over 18 or sexually active to start having yearly gyno exams, I believe the current recommendations are for females to have their first exam within a year of having their first menstrual period, and have follow-up exams every year after that.

"Women Only" so of course I HAD to look!

I hope you don't mind that I found this a delightful discussion!

In addition to men having lopsided testicles which provoke a lot of adolescent anxiety, did you know that when a man goes to the tailor for a custom made suit he is asked, "do you dress right or left?" This is an oblique way of asking if his flaccid penis flops left or right! It is of some importance in cutting the pants for the best fit.

Also, no face is symmetrical. You look at them every day and rarely notice this. If you carefully cut and paste either side of a face, flipping it to fit on to the other side so that you get a whole face comprised of two lefts or two rights, you will see some surprising results. There are some web pages where this can be seen and it is quite amusing.

Have you ever looked at an anatomical illustration of the human body? Of course you have. Nothing inside has any symmetry at all. It is just the way we humans are, inside and outside.

I hope that by your discussion here you can find some relief from your obsessive thoughts!

YES..... having one breast bigger than the other is normal, heck some people that pay 5,000 to 10,000 for breast implants and still end of with this issue due to tissue capsulation.....
My suggestion to you would be to bring the matter up with your doctor - as to calm your inner fears - and then if the complete cup size is still leaving you feeling self conscious or out of place when around other people, then by all means look into some cosmetic surgery - many people have surgery to correct the very issue you are concerned about.

I agree. Its normal to have one breast thats bigger. If you are really concerned you could talk to your doctor, or your GYN. I hope you have gained some reassurance from this thread. Take care of yourself.

My left is slightly bigger than my right, not that either is that big to begin with. If I need something with more coverage than a soft cup bra, I buy the Playtex ones that come in half cup sizes because I'm bigger than an A but not quite a B. Now, when I was breastfeeding, that was a different story.

My b/f loves them just the way they are. He even asked if I'd ever considered getting implants. I said no way, and he was relieved. He thinks they're perfect as is.
