Just curious if anyone has tried supplements, esp magnesium and they helped your anxiety? I have been reading a lot of articles online about controlling anxiety without medication. Most of them mention that magnesium helps your body create chemicals associated with feelings of calm. And yes I looked up foods high in magnesium, mostly raw greens, nuts and seeds. But realistically, Im moving into a dorm soon, I won't have as much control over my diet. I do eat healthy though. Anyway basically just wondering if anyone found that magnesium does indeed help with anxiety? Thanks very much everyone

I use magnesium frequently - sometimes in the day for anxiety and most nights for sleep. I find it very helpful. My husband has also started using it to lower his blood pressure and control anxiety. Max daily dose is 400 mg. Dollar General has a formula that also has calcium and zinc in it and the magnesium dose is lower than 400mg (I think around 120mg/tab) so you can take it up to three times a day. My husband says this one works better than the straight magnesium for him.

My sister told me she heard magnesium helps anxiety so thought I'd try it. I got a bottle of Nature Made 250 mg, and since I've been taking it have felt a lot better. I'm not sure if it's the magnesium or just finally recognizing some of the issues causing me anxiety around the same time and feeling some relief about it, though, but it's worth a try. I'm still taking it just in case!!

I read in a Vitamen book years ago that the combination of calcium, magnesium and zinc was very good for bipolars and people that suffer from illness caused by a chemical imbalence.
