ok I have an anxiety disorder and started Zoloft 50mg 6 weeks ago, I have been feeling really good sometimes almost 2 good but I'm not complaining it's been good. But I have a question last night I started feeling that weird feeling of being a little anxious and scared, I was trying to fall asleep and I awoke startled and that weird felling was there like it was creeping up on me. I had these when my anxiety first happened before the meds. But my period is coming up soon and you know with the natural hormones we have before they start a little pms......is this what it is and l once I have my period it will pass...or is it my symptoms coming back . If I know that's what it is I can handle it and say ok this will pass. Cognitive therapy really helped me along with my meds. I had to take an Ativan because I felt a little freaky scaredto sleep. I was thinking "oh no please let it be my period and not my mind"
I hated that horrible way I felt I had no control of my mind and it scared me. I see my Dr. March 7. It is such a horrible thing this anxiety and this forum has been able to put my mind at ease so please I need to know, I am desperate! Thanks for reading.

Hi chichi,
I am sorry you are feeling anxious. I have had depression/anxiety for about 15 years. I take 200mg zoloft per day and xanax .25mg as needed. I am 46 and have found that the closer I am to menapause the more I am having anxiety. I can't say your increase anxiety is from your period but I know mine is. I suggest that you start writing down your feelings, what you have ate, amount of exercise, and then the day you start you period. This is documentation that you can take to your physician for proof of the increased anxiety. And that will help ease your mind knowing that you can correlate the increase anxiety to your period. I hope this helps you somehow.

Chichi,

I know that for me, my anxiety symptoms are much, much worse during that time of the month for me. Hormones are quite powerful. Ask your T/PDoc about this. Beleive me, your not alone.

Hand in there!!
