It seems silly if I think about it logically but this coming week, and any week like this causes me huge anxiety. I have a few things that I need to get done, appointments, etc and for some reason just the fact that I have these appointments stress me out.
I have my normal work and then after that I have 3 extra appointments I have to go to, next week. Not anything that is horrible, or should be stressful in any way. I have a couple of phone calls that stress me out that I will have to make. But it is all just average stuff. Nothing bad just daily living. I am needing to learn some coping skills on how to handle daily things like this. Anything out of my norm stresses me out. I have huge anxiety from this and just keep thinking that there has to be a better way for me to handle it. Like why, a week prior, am I stressed out? I am anxious so much that I try to get out of doing these things, which I know I need to do. Any helpful suggestions would be great...thanks! ![]() |

Hi callie12
I have GAD and I also have the same tendency to stress out over things that I have to do in the future. I will tell you what has helped me. Along with therapy, I read books and information on living in the now and meditation. One book is called The Power of Now by Eckert Tolle. The other book is called Wherever You Go There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Both of these books help us to stay in the moment and to live our lives free from anxiety. It might be worth a try as it has helped me. They are both paperbacks and not expensive on amazon. Hope this helps some. Best wishes. |

Thank you! I will look for those books! I read a lot and was hoping I could find some information like that.

I'm totally the same way. Appointments or any sort of scheduled thing I get really anxious over.

I like sideblinded's book recommendations too. I used to have exactly the same thing. You might want to have a look at this and see if it describes why you have anxiety about upcoming new things. There is a very easy thing to try ("SNAP CLUB") which has been a huge help for me and others as well. http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...n-escaped.html ![]() |
