Why do i feel more anxious after running shouldnt it do the opposite, i loved running before as it gave me that feel good factor and on top of that i fear of pushing to hard because im paranoid i might have a heart attack or something stupid, its so frustrating i cant believe anxiety is taking over everything i love in life. Does anybody else feel like this after workouts?

Hi Nivad

I have generalized anxiety and yes anxiety can creep in every facet of our life. I used to ride a bike about 2 years ago and now I have stopped that. I am having trouble just getting up the courage to go walking again. I don't think I will have a heart attack but I am getting up there in age and I do think about other issues like safety where I walk or getting too tired that I get winded and can't make it back. These thoughts are silly for me as I am in good physical shape. So I understand what you are saying. I think that if you are getting out and exercising, you have conquered a lot.

some people get exercise induced anxiety. Not really a problem with me, but it would be awful for me because I love to exercise. I agree that it's commendable that you're still getting out and doing it. Consider it maybe a type of exposure therapy?

Another option is perhaps interspersing running with yoga, tai chi, or swimming, something with smooth motions that may help you feel a little steadier?

I find that I suffer from exercise-induced calmness.
