I have never had an anxiety attack to the point where all my muscles are twitching and I'm about to be sick ... at least not until this last month, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I've dealt with all the other symptoms of anxiety when they came up, and some of them I accidentally induced in myself (yay for caffeine and other stuff) but this is the first time I've ever been this stressed out.

I had an attack at T last week. Two attacks the week before that. A few more before that. All the same, I CANT get control of myself! Can't stop shaking, crying, laughing hysterically, feeling sick, dizzy, faint, racing thought etc when I'm in one of these moments.

I can deal with the minor attacks, with breathing exercises that many of my friends have helped me with. They help, but ONLY for the minor attacks, not the ones that can last for up to two hours.

I feel like I've lost control of myself. Anxiety shouldn't be this bad for me ... I'm only a bit stressed out.

But is it possible to have an attack because you pick up (internalize and empathize) with other people's stress, and your body reacts negatively as a result?

Sorry, I know I'm all over the place but this is really starting to alarm me.

You stated you had an attack while at your T. What did they think or say about it?
I would hope they had some insight to the problem?

Take care of you. Hope you get a handle on this.

Thanks for responding both of you!

((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))

nelleus57, my T actually really seemed concerned for me. He looked really worried. He told me that it may have been my way of dealing with some of the stress in the session. He gave me some help-line numbers to phone if I ever feel the need to, but when it gets bad it's hard to think clearly, let alone talk!

I'm not sure, canders......but it makes sense to me, that if you are very sensitive to others' issues around you & already under some stress, that it can maybe snowball & result in a panic attack.

What's up w/ school? Could 2nd term (& impending deadlines & finals approaching) be causing you extra anxiety? I know for me, university did that big time.

Try to take a hot shower, chill w/ some friends, listen to some good music.........anything to take a break from studying for a bit. Remember, that exam/essay/presentation/whatever will probably go better than you think...........and: you also probably know more than you think. You're almost done for the year.......

Thanks ((((((((((desperado)))))))))))))

I think school is making it bad, along with other stuff I'm expected to do at the moment and all that's thrown me into a bad state of mind.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anxiety?!

Hey canders,

You are welcome. I can't say I know what you are going through, but it sounds like a lot..........make sure you take the time to treat yourself......i.e., nice hot shower, paint your toenails a funky colour, have a nice specialty coffee or tea, listen to some good music, etc. b/c you are worth it.

I hope your anxiety has dwindled, some. Hang in there; not much longer to go now. Take one project/exam/essay etc. by one.

PM me if you'd like.

Hi Canders,
Anxiety sucks-I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I highly recommend massage therapy for anxiety.
If you haven't tried it than please do so. Make sure the person you hire is certified and has had 500+ hours or more of schooling.
Please, trust me on this. Get a full body Swedish massage-an hour session. It will run about $60-$70-it's worth it.
If you can afford it than get one once a week.
I hope this helps.
