I was chosen to serve as a Jury duty at my local court house.

I have such a severe case of anxiety that I cant even go to my local shopping centers without feeling like passing out and losing touch with reality. I refuse to get highly addicted to benos and rather not take any drugs.

So heres what happen. I write them a letter

To whom may it concern of,
I was summoned to appear in the jury assembly room located at (the location to the court room) at 7:45AM EDT on may 16 2007 to serve as a juror.

I have a mental disorder, Anxiety/Panic attacks that causes me to almost pass out in public view. It's very difficult for me to get around in public without having to feel these symptoms. I'm also Claustrophobic, due to the terrifying experiences that I had inside psychiatric hospitals that was involuntary.

I was currently on SSI but soon switched over to my fathers Social security, as hes in full retirement. I was on Medicaid Humana, when I was on SSI and my health coverage was canceled due to the discharged of SSI. I do not have medical coverage insurance at this time so I could not get a note from a doctor. Please exempt me from Jury duty.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Just today I received a post card saying:

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
Dear (my name)
Your request for excusal from jury duty is pending. Please submit a physicians letter (with your Jury I.D# on it) to this office.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Can any of you guys please tell me if I made myself clear about my current condition and situation? How the HELL can I get a doctors note when I DO NOT have health insurance at this time? My god the government is STUPID! They spend all of this money on this useless Iraq war, but they won't spend it on universal health care!

My only option now is to head over to the emergency room and try to convince them to get me a note (Note: none emergency) and watch them give me a dirty look because they get tired of seeing NONE emergency cases entering to the hospital Ranting at my local government

I will be sitting in the emergency room for 4 hours waiting for my note to show up :/

I recently served as a Juror...

I'm guessing they receive request like this a lot and need something to "prove" the information. Have you been to a doctor who knows about your condition - generally they will write something up on a prescription pad and sign it - they should not charge for it...

If that doesn't work and you can somehow make it to court the first day. In private during the selection process you can make this known to the court - generally you will be excused on the spot. They may ask stupid questions like " do you think this would affect your ability to render a fair and just verdict"

Hope one of these may work - second one sounds like it would be more of challenge...

I get out of jury duty because I'm self employed. I dont know how you could get out of it. I'm sorry you have to go. Could you suddenly become self employed?

If you already have a diagnosis from a doctor or hospital, all you have to do is ask for your medical records to be sent to you and from there you can copy whatever you need from them to send to the courthouse.

Good Luck to you!
