I was put on Konopin in the hospital for 3 weeks at 1 to 2 milligrams per day. I foolishly left the hospital and stopped taking it a couple of days later, not realizing the consequences. I've been off of it for 6 days and suffering from heads zaps and pain . Should I ride this out or go back on and wean off?

i was on klonopin much longer and tried to stop and it was awful. i had to go back on. i was only taking a .5 pill a day so i didnt think it was that big a deal. so i started taking it again until i felt better and then went down to 3/4 until i felt stable on it, then 1/2 until stable, then 1/4 until stable and i kept doing this halfing until i was just taking grains in water. i still had dizziness, nausea and chills when first cutting down but it leveled out. i probably should have done smaller cut downs but this process even took me a few months to do. now i only take klonopin when i truly feel like i am going to die. good luck.

You might find some good advice here: http://www.benzobuddies.org/
Benzo withdrawal is usually hellish, and potentially dangerous if done too quickly. |

Hi Hopeinnyc
It would be best to mention this to the Dr. , but I do believe that you are suffering withdrawal symptoms. The thing to consider is are those meds really good for controlling anxiety. If so staying on them might be best. Take care. I hope and pray you have a really great day. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis |

It's withdrawal. Just thinking about Klonopin practically makes me pass out with fear - remembering what it felt like cold turkeying (lost insurance & job) after having taken it for YEARS. Sleeping - maybe - 2 hours a night for a straight month. Aagh - I can't even talk about all the other awfulness. Never never never again.
What others have said makes sense: you may want to go back on and taper excruciatingly slowly. |

Benzos are addictive...people will continue to use them to keep from feeling the withdrawal symptoms...and if you want the working affect, you will need more and more

My P-doc is considering switching me from Xanax to Klonopin. I only take one or two .5 mg Xanax a day, down from two to three.
He believes that I might be better served by the Klonopin since it stays in my body longer. But I am concerned because it doesn't act as fast as the Xanax, and because I hear these horror stories about Klonopin withdrawl. |
