I am so tired of these panic attacks. I don't care anymore about the fact that Ativan might be addictive - I will take it everytime I feel an attack coming on. I can't handle this anymore!!!! They are happening too many times, several times a day - I can't win, so I give up!! Will turn to the meds, and might as well start drinking again too. What difference does it make, they aren't going to stop and I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE

Mate, I feel your pain. I abused painkillers and sleeping tablets for years, trying to dull the pain of my OCD and depression.

I have stopped taking these drugs and have been free for a month (35 days, to be exact).

But I don't have any magical words to say and I can't suggest a miracle cure. Panic attacks are brutal and coping with multiple attacks a day can be cruel.

When all is said and done, we continue living every day because we have hope, hope that better times will come, hope that we can learn to cope better. Don't let go of that hope. When your pain is the most raw, hope can be all you have.

With the right treatment, you WILL learn to live a normal life. Definitely, absolutely, positively.

Just never let go of your hope.

bebu......please dont tell yourself things wont get better ! So much of panic and anxiety attacks come from our thoughts - and feeding those negative thoughts to the beasts will only make them stronger. I am living proof , as are others on the boards, we CAN and DO get better !

Ativan should help ! If you are in the throes of an attack - let it dissolve under your tongue - it gets in your system faster. AS for mixing Ativan and alcohol......you already know that is not a good idea.......but just had to mention it. Adding a depressant (alcohol) will counteract the effects of the Ativan . I HEAR your pain - and having been there for many years, I FEEL it also. I just hope you can focus on the fact that we DO get better.......it may take awhile, and some hard work, but dont give up. There IS life after panic.
