having been in college I developed an anxiety in flying...

some of the things I do...extra dosage of anti anxiety drug - clear with your doctor

I like to watch the wings move - so I always get a window seat...you may find it opposit e for you and want an aisle seat...

Bring a book to read

Journal

pay no attention to what is actually going on

some ideas to think about

I make sure I take my anxiety med about 30 min before flight and also i keep them handy on flight just incase.

I like window seat but if not available then isle. Window keeps me distracted as I can see what is going on outside and isle helps keep me from feeling squeezed in.

I take a book, variety of puzzles, and i have taken my hand quilting work with me to do. I tend to get bored easily with just reading so I like a variety of stuff.

Another thing that helped me was sitting my this little girl. She talked with me....did a puzzle with me....showed me pictures of their vacation.....little did she know how much she helped me!!!

I always get something to drink such as water, pop, or coffee....and of course decaf. for me.

I have not flown long distance...the longest alone flight I have done is 3 hours.

Good luck!

I have a friend who also has a fear of flying..but yet every year he goes to Mexico but not until he took valium before getting on the plane..he would literally be out of it. Last year he decided there had to be a better way than always taking drugs...so he decided to try Massage Therapy, and it worked it relazed him enough to get on that plane. Good luck! godspeed.
