I noticed that when I'm feel stress or experienced anxiety for days that my body becomes tense. It bothers me a bit because it sort of aches and then I get a tension headache. And just thinking about it could make it worse. I do meditation, but what other techniques would be good to relieve body tension?

I'm not sure but I would like to know that too as sometimes I don't even realize I'm so tense until I start getting headaches and pain in my jaw and neck for days. I tried to relax my body but sometimes it seems almost impossible. I feel for you

Are you able to relax during meditation, or do you remain tense?

I do relax when I do meditation, but not always.

I try muscle relaxation but within moments I realize I'm tense again... I really need to practice more...

I've mentioned 'weight' therapy before. For many, a heavy or weighted blanket is comforting enough to allow them to relax. I use a BIG bean bag (tube sock full of lentils). I will walk around my home with it on my shoulder or lie down with it on my chest. I also have used it that way when I meditate and journey.

I do yoga for relaxation. The long stretching really helps loosen the muscles. It makes you more aware of your entire body too. Then you can kind of feel where the pain is really coming from. Like if my neck hurts, sometimes it because I am clenching my jaw, or sometimes its because my upper back is killing me from sleep or something. I have this app that helps me, I'm a beginner...Yoga Studio by Gaiam Inc.
