Anxiety is tough in todays world. What do we do to learn to live with it? We start by learning to stay un the moment but is there any other suggestions?

Focusing on my breathing does help. My anxiety is less worry and more a physical experience. I pay attention to my sleep health. I pay attention to my nutrition or sometimes my sliding on my nutrition. I tend to have panic attacks as opposed to ruminations. I mention that because of 'besides from staying in the moment.' Mine could be more related to my central nervous system. My now retired and former therapist had mentioned that sometimes there are those clients that do have more of a physiological anxiety disorder. I will on that note state that monitoring stress is something else anyone dealing with anxiety can do to help themselves.

Good question. Reading a good book helps me a little bit. And music helps.

Going to the lake, smoking less, drinking less coffee, back rubs, a walk, weight lifting, smoking a joint, taking proper medication, talking on the phone is NOT a good anxiety reliever for me..no matter who it is...but sometimes also listening to music...the deep belly breathing instead of short gasps or holding my breath and not realizing it, helping people, buying myself any present...usually blankets....
![]() All of that...and alot of it I do on a daily basis STILL tons of anxiety...when I try to stay in the moment...I freak out more that I am worrying too much about staying in the moment...and it is impossible for me to stay in the moment... What I need is more anxiety medication but the Drs aren't too free with the stuff that actually helps SOME people...like me..instead they come up with stuff like "meditate" ok...meditate while my mind races and heart pounds? Give me 1mg of Ativan extra a day and possibly i CAN meditate.

I use the recommended techniques: mindfulness, breathing, anxiety apps, exercise, distraction but I also depend heavily on my medication. Best wishes.

I use grounding techniques and breathing exercises. I also take medication as prescribed and move around for short periods of time.
