Has anyone else ever had anxiety induced asthma attacks? If so is there any medications that can help?

Yep! Apart from colds making my asthma worse, stress and anxiety can make the asthma worse too.

You will need inhalers for the asthma so you will need to see a doctor about that.

As for stress and anxiety there are meds for that too which would help stop the asthma attacks occuring so much.

Also trying to cope with the stress and anxiety with relaxation and slowing the breathing down, and dealing with what triggers it all off.

Please see your doctor about it, ok?

Take care. Anxiety Induced Asthma attcks

Anxiety can't cause asthma attacks, just make already existing asthma worse and your regular asthma inhaler works on any asthma attack, no matter why it happens. Just being short of breath from anxiety is not asthma, asthma's an actual disease most often caused by allergies.

For difficulty breathing during anxiety, cup your hands and breathe into them (or the old "brown paper bag") to get more carbon dioxide back into your system:

i agree with perna. i would hyperventilate sometimes when i was having an anxiety attack an many people thought i had asthma.

breathing into your hands is a good way to stop that

This is not true - I am a bad asthmatic and suffer from very bad anxiety and panic disorder and one DOES trigger the other. During a panic or anxiety attack, your body goes into its natural fight or flight defense and produces histamines. Histamines cause the bronchodialators in the lungs to become inflamed and inflamed bronchodialators trigger asthma. EVERY time I suffer a panic attack I have an asthma attack and the inhalers and pills dont work - my lungs completely shut down and I always have to go to the ER for a series of nebulizer treatments. Stress and anxiety are the top cause for asthma attacks - above all allergies - pets, danger, mold, combined. I have a team of doctors, including an allergiest and pulmonologist and respitory therapist that taught me that anxiety is the number 1 cause of asthma attacks.
