Hello,

I currently suffer from GAD among other things, and I haven't figured out any triggers yet. I was just wondering if people who have gone through GAD have any tips that you felt helped you the most? Thank you.

I have the Calm app on my phone and do a 10 minute meditation (different ones) each day. It’s taught me to focus my mind on my breathing when I’m anxious and this has helped. It also includes longer meditations for anxiety. Being mindful and focusing on my breathing help a lot.
Thanks for this!

I feel better since I’ve started the lithium, but it is really too soon to tell. My pdoc felt it would help with the anxiety as well as other symptoms.

I’m also trying DBT - there are a couple of threads in the depression forum here on this site.

Hang in there. I can’t stand the anxiety; I know it is so hard
Thanks for this!

I forgot to add I like gabapentin too for anxiety. It isn’t addictive like Valium/benzos, although it can be abused
Thanks for this!

Right now the anxiety is my biggest issue. I do believe it has passed my Depression in terms of severity, continually being worried that something will go wrong anytime I am outside is just so stressful. I'm hanging in there though!

Ugh, the anxiety!!

My therapist has asked me what I’m thinking when I’m anxious. She wants me to replace those negative thoughts with positive ones about the same thing.

I think it helps. I’ve been struggling with criticism.

“My boss hates me” to “My boss is trying to help me.”

“I can’t do this anymore” to “I’m competent and able to complete this task.”

Etc...

Yeah the anxiety is a pain, I am constantly worried about my surroundings, because I feel like something is going to go wrong. I wind up looking around myself like a mad man whenever I am out of my dorm. Very stressful on me.
