Hello,

I have been suffering from very bad anxiety the last few months, and no medication has helped me yet. I currently take Seroquel, Risperidone, Remeron and the Seroquel has helped my Psychotic Depression out greatly, even though it was prescribed for anxiety and my psychotic symptoms. I should be coming off of Risperidone and Remeron in 11 days when I meet with my psychiatrist again. I also assume she will be increasing my dosage of Seroquel up from 100 mg to try and counteract my anxiety. Another thing I am assuming is that I will get a benzodiazepine for when my symptoms are really bad.

I have been on Lexapro, Celexa, Prozac, Doxepin, Lamictal, Risperidone, Remeron, Seroquel, Clonodine, Busiprone during my two episodes of Psychotic Depression. The anxiety aspect is new to me and I was diagnosed with GAD and Social Anxiety. So I was wondering what everyone who has had their anxiety fixed by medication, which one(s) helped you? I just want to bring it up to my psychiatrist to get her opinion on it. I know SNRIs are probably the next step for me since SSRIs do not work. Thank you!

Busiprone, Celexa, Seroquel were all originally prescribed for anxiety. Although Busiprone did not help me, Celexa made me worse (just like the other SSRIs) and so far Seroquel has not helped my anxiety, but it has helped my Psychotic Depression.

Xanax is the only one that has worked for me and everyone in my family.

Not benzos, they made it worse in the long run. Propranolol is the best one for me

Everyday whenever I go out in public.

I take half a pill though because the full one makes me sleepy.

How did it make things worse? Addicted? I think my Psychiatrist wants to do everything she can before prescribing benzos, but I have been struggling for 3 months now with debilitating anxiety.

Thank you. I'm a college student so it sucks that I have to go out every day to class where it makes my anxiety worse. Wish I could just stay in my dorm all day but I have already missed a bunch of class already. Does it work all day? I have my lectures spread out from 8 AM to 3 PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

It lasts 6 hours for me.

Not sure if it is because it is a low dose or I take half.

Or that the pill only lasts for six hours though.

I found a website explaining on how long it lasts.

Seems like it varies from person to person.

Effexor XR has helped my anxiety a lot. I haven't had a tension headache in a long time from anxiety. I don't worry as much as I used to. I don't have as much social anxiety. It's more noticeable when interacting with strangers now.

I probably have to come off of it though due to side effects (hypertension and high heart rate). Doesn't help with my panic attacks, so I have Ativan for those. It tends to work, as the episodes aren't as long. Effexor XR hasn't done much for depression though...

Do you mean your social anxiety became more noticeable when you started Effexor?

My sister takes Zoloft and Conazepam for anxiety. How often do you have to use the Clonazepam?

I take 10 mg of Valium prn for anxiety. Sometimes I don’t need it for days or a week. It takes the edge off but doesn’t fully get rid of the anxiety but then again when my anxiety is bad it’s really bad.
Thanks for this!

I got off all my meds 8 months ago micro dosed with shrooms at a ridiculously low level (had never ever done any type of drug prior) That trip and the next few days were the happiest I’ve felt in over 20 years. Now I use indica only weed, I find that sativa strands tend to ramp up my paranoia ❤️

I ended up in a ward the first time I came off Effexor I went almost cold turkey and am done now for good and have been for over a half a year now. That **** is just poison. It did help my symptoms but created more severe and long lasting issues.

I take Neurontin and Vistaril for anxiety. Anti-psychotics also worked (except Abilify and Latuda).

My pnurse's office doesn't prescribe benzos as they also treat substance abuse cases and don't keep it around.

Sorry to hear that. I definitely do not want to end up in inpatient again, it's just inconvenient so I am trying my best to avoid it. I think I will be prescribed some SSNRI to see if that will help my anxiety. My Psychiatrist does not tell me about the side effects, which is kind of annoying.

I am not sure if Seroquel will help my anxiety yet, it has not so far but I do not know what the effective dosage is to treat anxiety. I am also not sure if my Psychiatrist prescribes benzos. I kind of hope they do so I can have relief when my symptoms are unbearable. Thank you

Oh, no, sorry. I mean, it seems that my social anxiety is only noticed now when I interact with strangers versus just leaving my house.

But I'm not sure if Effexor is what helped this, therapy, a different med, or a combination of a lot of things.

Effexor is an SNRI.

I have had success with both ativan and clonazepam, but my doctors won't do benzos long term, only to stabalize. Right now I use Zoloft and marijuana (I have a prescription for it). Cbd oil is actually pretty amazing at controlling anxiety for me.

I use CBD, my med maryj, Kratom, and kava + I’ve made a playlist that is not “relaxing” per say (hat stuffs tends to piss me off and amp me up when I can’t calm down) it feels forced. So rather I add songs like *sunshine by atmosphere ❤️

Smoke and listen to it, I calm down and then am able to work through my issues and reduce my stressors without having to go through my freak out cycle of crying and wanting to die over he dishes because I got overwhelmed. Never could do that on any prescription.
Thanks for this!
