Hi All,

So I take 150mg of generic zoloft and drink I think too much, like sometimes up to four beers at a time. This has been happening for a few years. Recently a friend of mine passed away, he drank a lot of liquor but also had undiagnosed diabetes 2 and since he passed away I've been feeling some dull discomfort by my liver, under my right ribs.

I called the advice nurse and she asked if I have gas. I said yes, I have IBS. I wonder, since I'm a slight hypochondriac if this is just stress. I also have anxiety and my ribs and muscles are generally tight. But I'm also concerned about my drinking, although I don't usually ever drink liquor.

It's your body, but we shouldn't be drinking with medication for many reasons including what you've mentioned.

I used to drink heavily while taking Zyprexa and I was rushed to hospital for liver failure. Anyway I don't want to worry you but get a blood test done soon. Early detection is paramount.

Best wishes
Thanks for this!

Of course, I can't tell you what's going on with you. But I will tell you that 22 months ago my precious sister died from a long, long fight with cancer. Shortly after she died I began to be obsessed with being almost sure I had cancer. I felt guilty and stupid. The last thing I wanted to do was to focus on her the illness that killed her. But there it was. I was stuck on the idea, despite no reason to be. EVERY little pain, anything the tiniest bit unusual in my body - there came the horrible anxiety.

So. What I'm trying to point out is that, as I understand it, thinking we have the same or similar illness that a loved one recently died from is common.

That said, 2ISAB is absolutely correct: You are drinking too much. I believe that you know it, too.

Thank you, I am sorry you went through that but glad you are ok. I made a phone appointment to talk with my doctor and possibly get blood tested.

I am sorry for your loss. This happened to me before when my grandma passed away from colon cancer, that was when my IBS symptoms first began. But it’s true, I’m not supposed to drink as much as I have been the past two years or so. I don’t drink every day, but I drink too much.
