I cannot explain why but it seems like whenever I am sick or very anxious I just break down and cry.I know the depression will do that to me,it is like I am depressed because I am so anxious .DO u ever get depressed from feeling so anxious or sick?

Mostly I feel fearful when I'm anxious or sick. So many times when this happens I wonder how I got through it. And yes I cry too. Do you feel better after a cry? Sometimes I do.

I do cry when I get too anxious. Lately I've been physically sick and that makes me cry too.

I usually just cry when I am very stressed or when I am dealing with PMDD. But I have cried before when I’m anxious.

Hello xmascaro. Good question/post! A psychologist once told me in therapy that my stress response is to get depressed. Once she pointed it out, I realized there's a lot of truth to that for me. When I am stressed/anxious for an extended period it's almost like my body and mind can't maintain that level of energy so then I become really down and flat. As far as breaking down and crying, how often? I don't think that's unhealthy in and of itself. Sometimes we need to cry. Can be a release when we are feeling overwhelmed. I think it would only be problematic if you are crying so much that you can't function, can't make it to work etc.

Yes, when I am physically sick that often triggers or exacerbates my depression.

Have you ever tried guided meditation to ease the depression or anxiety? It really helps me. There are wonderful videos on YouTube. Can search: 'guided meditation to relieve anxiety' or 'guided meditation when you are sick' or 'guided meditation to relieve depression.'

I wish you peace.

I believe it's perfectly normal, xmascarol. Anyone copes with anxiety in its own way. Probably your way is by crying. I'm sure you're not alone. Does crying help you to make you feel better? I certainly hope so. I'm so sorry you're hurting so much, please don't give up. I hope you'll feel better soon. Keep writing here if it helps. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Sending many hugs to you

My social anxiety has caused me to cry in public a few times, yes. All the negativities my mind sends to me as I'm just trying to walk down the street[!], well, it's been too much at times. And nobody has a clue. So frustrating and crazy. Yes, it's the root of my depression.

Thanks xmascarol. Yes, it's difficult all right. In twenty years, thinking positive has only seen me get gradually worse, ha. But it's helped in other ways I suppose. Yep, I feel the same way; and I have lost my mind a few times. It's a tough journey but just keep doing what you think may be helping, that's what I do.

Sending you strength of spirit and perseverance, xmascarol.

Sometimes when I’ve been anxious or depressed or sad I won’t cry until things are getting better... or when someone shows kindness and compassion I wasn’t expecting.

It is so strange because sometimes I do cry when I am happy.

I feel like crying often. I want to very often. The best I can do however is tear up. You see, I have physically been unable to do so since my ECT treatment a few years ago. I just can't squinch up my forehead which I have discovered must be physically a component of doing so. I have even purposely tried to do so. The bawling just doesn't come. Instead, the tears simply flow like rivers from my eyes. Ocassionally I can manage the sound of sobbing. As for the trigger to my tearing up or whish to cry? Yep, generally this is always a symptom of anxiety.

Absolutely. Constant anxiety 24/7 (which is pretty much the story of my life) will inevitably bring on depression. Why would you not be depressed when your life is reduced to a bundle of fearful thoughts and cyclical thinking. In my case anxiety always came first, followed by depression...never the other way around. Crying isn't uncommon
