Hi friends,
I sometimes ask my boyfriend for a scenario to think about before falling asleep, to discourage my stupid nightmares from creeping up on me. I thought I'd share a couple. Anyone have scenarios to share? Try to come up with one. It makes bed time more pleasant!

- laying on the beach on a perfect day. Hear the waves and the gulls, smell the salt and the fried food, imagine running your hand through the sand, that warm incubator feeling..

-in a hotel bed with tons of fluffy pillows and soft white sheets

-skipping through a field of flowers (I know it's cheesy, but when you're desperate for happy dreams...)

- performing a sun salutation in yoga

-in your favorite pajamas, cuddled up with someone (or a book or a nice quilt)

-on your next vacation. I'll try dreaming about my upcoming week off: waking up late, staying in my pajamas until noon, catching up on reading, splurging on my twice annual hair cut at a real salon (instead of Supercuts!) Idea to help us with nightmares

Let's share!

I like ocean imagery , the wonderful calming sound of the surf.

If I do have a nightmare I like to finish the story my own way, in other words I stay in a light doze and imagine my own story ending with my victory.

I read a good book before I go to sleep so I have something to think about as I'm falling asleep.

I've asked "questions" I want answered in dreams before I go to sleep or I've come up with symbols I want to see representing answers :-) I was in a dream group before and we were trying to all dream the same symbols (all dream about "grapefruit" for example) and trying to do that or anything with another, especially a good friend you're close to is fun. We could do that here. But focusing on something before sleep is fun to try.

I've found many ppl picture themselves in a safe place...such as their T's office... and this allows them to go to sleep.

Very often I will look at some of the photos I've taken on my travels to Europe. I've seen some wonderfully beautiful places and to relive them through my photos it can put me in a calm and happy state before closing my eyes for the night.

I also will perform a ritual of sorts especially when feeling a bit stressed and finding it hard to calm down before falling asleep. I say good night to my body starting at my toes and working my way up to my head. I do it with love and thanking my body for making it through another day and letting it know it's good to relax and sleep deeply and soundly.
