When I use to study dreams I read somewhere that anxiety dreams are the most common. Well, last night I was awakened after dreaming a large black spider, one of those with long skinny legs

http://greennature.com/gallery/spide...us_spider.html

ran across my bare shoulder or under my arm or something in bed. I could "feel" it and sort of woke up which was a little worse because of trying to figure out its trajectory, "where" it may have gone while at the same time constantly reminding myself it was a dream, there was no spider (and having my head constantly retort, "Yes, but what if there were?" :-) I finally had to get up and come downstairs.

I started the night trying to get myself to concentrate on dreaming a solution to what I should "do" next. I have 3-4 large "areas" I could work on and I'm wishing I could decide what really interests me. I keep dabbling in all of them and it's not possible to do that effectively. But instead of picking one and "trying" it I just keep sort of thinking about it instead and letting the days drift, saying I'll get on it in the new year, etc.

An ancient symbol for weaving, and thus for creativity. The dreamer may be going through a rough time in life, and need to find a creative solution to resolve the situation. Dreaming of a spider can be reassuring: You have it in you to find the solution. (From MSN astrology center dream dictionary.)

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">
But what does it mean if your spider gets away?

i don't know about you, but those are my big phobia. i had years of awful nightmares with them crawling onto my bed and me by the hundreds and i would come flying out of bed before i was even awake.

if it "gets away" to me that is a good thing. i know the lore behind them, but i can't get myself to accept that. IRL i never see them in webs (settled, stable, homes). Always on the move (or on the bottom of my shoe).

ok getting chills about this.... good luck in your search.

This time of year, it's hard to deal with shoulds. Maybe if you go with your bliss, the rest will fall in line?

Also, are you positive it wasn't a spider? It sounds like you are being too hard on yourself.

now i had dreams about them. i was in bermuda (was there in a show once) and was trying to go through the walkway lined with flowering bushes. webs brushed against my shorts-exposed legs and i saw one or two of the 8 leggeds *hopping* or jumping across the path. I started hopping to get away and went back the way i came.

Last night I had small, colorful moths or butterflies on the ceiling, all clumped together and I was trying to "shoot" them or something, kind of like pick-up-sticks, one at a time, without any of the others being disturbed. Must have symbolized "ideas"?

I don't like the hopping spiders or webs, Kiya! Yucky! I had to reach through old webs in a dream once to save an infant hanging, kind of like in a cocoon/spider bundle, but was actually in a child carrier thing. Again, I had to reach through all that without disturbing it enough to alert the spiders, which I could see and which seemed to be looking at me, I guess just waiting for me to make a mistake.

ew, perna that sounds really freaky.
one of mine that was recurring was a huge huge snake in a maze was after mom and i. the maze was taller than us and the snake filled it. i knew i could get out if i left mom, but i couldn't. i went back for her and she refused to move. i had no choice but to go without her because she wouldn't leave.

Oh, don't go into the snakes! I dreamed I ate a live one once, was in a sleeping bag with me or coming at me when I was in one, something like that. Another took place across the literal street from where I lived in the City and I swear the next time I was on that sidewalk (through a weedy, uncut area) I'm looking all over for the snakes.

No, I don't have any phobias, not fond of snakes or spiders but I don't know a whole lot of people who are :-) I can "deal" if I have to.

You ever played around on this site: http://panphobia.org

It's one of my favorites on the Web. That and http://www.witwords.com/fictionary.cfm

"What kind of tree would you place in the yard of an enchanted bungalow?"

An enchanted tree, of course.

What would this enchanted tree "do"? What would this enchanted tree "be" if it were freed of its enchantment?

One of the Oz books; there are maybe 25 different Oz books, I think it was Ozma of Oz; she was locked into a peach pit as a child and someone had to be able to find "that" peach tree and then that peach!

Nope, that whole book is here: http://www.pagebypagebooks.com/L_Frank_Baum/Ozma_of_Oz/

Not Glinda either: http://www.pagebypagebooks.com/L_Fra.../Glinda_of_Oz/

Oh, well, it's somebody "famous" from Oz, I remember that particular story well :-)

The second movie of returning to Oz was really scary. I may never forget dorothy being taken to the "mental hospital" where the restrained her to a metal table and there was screaming all around her. i was always afraid that would happen to me.

not enchanted trees like in Oz. ... nice, good trees like the one in that book that talks to the kid - or grandmother willow in Phocohontas. I'd like to be friends with one like that.

If i were an enchanted tree, freed from my enchantments, i would become a bird and fly high above people so as to remain free.

Last night I dreamed about potatoes all night, baking potatoes to be exact; everyone had to have one in their hand or they'd die or something. There were some that weren't quite right, looked like huge kiwis kind of, with fuzzy skin and others were cooked/split open with fluffy insides coming out and steam rising like ready to eat. But there was a horrible bomb dropped or other disaster and a building falling on people and then everyone "left" was holding a potato and people were looking at each other to see if they had a potato or not in their hands and worrying about it and people kind of "disappeared" if they didn't. Very bizarre and everytime I'd "wake" to roll over, etc. I'd be thinking about potatoes.
