One thing that I've always found kinda ironic is that while I am REALLY creeped out by flying bugs (with the exception of butterflies and maybe some moths), anything that has wings seems to LOVE me. It's not so much that I'm scared of them, I just tend to freak out (most girls don't like spiders...) of course, my room is like some sort of ladybug generator because no matter how many I kill in a given night, another just takes it's place. the feeling of ladybugs...crawling on me... eek. You see, the NORMAL reaction when you hear a bug buzzing or you see one flying in your general direction, is to swat it away. I kind of matrix dodge/power backhand/olympic runner sprint away ![]() But today, a ladybug landed on my neck, I didn't notice until I picked it off because it did itch...it was pretty gross if you ask me. This is the second time a ladybug has decided to land on me (the first time it landed on my finger, and I fung the poor thing across my beedroom) |

"The ladybug is one of the few insects which enjoys popularity around the world, and for good reason. These pretty insects are credited with many virtues. Ladybugs have long been considered a symbol of good luck and fortune. Because of their ability to eat an enormous supply of aphids, ladybugs were believed to be sent from heaven to save crops. In some cultures, the sight of a ladybug indicates a bountiful harvest, a harbinger of good weather or a good luck omen."

But beware of the ladybug imposter, the Asian beatle. These little guys look like ladybugs but have a tendency to infest an area. They are a nuisance and oh, they bite.

Exactly C, we have Asian beetles in the spring and fall. I hate them, you can suck them all up with a vaccumm and they're back 15 minutes later! It's a couple weeks of hell both times, and if anyone knows how to get rid of them permenantly I'd love to know!
And they HURT when they bite!

AAAAA, I've found a few insecticides that work for long periods. I can't think of the name right now. If I remember it I'll post it here.

I'd appreciate it. I think that they're cycling out here. They used to be every where. Unless I am mistaken the DNR transplanted them here to get rid of these little worm things that were killing the trees.
I get about 15 of them in the spring and in the fall. Used to be hundreds in every room! Every one had them.

Nope, definately ladybugs and not asian beetles. It said that the dots on their shells are like in a W or M pattern, but these little guys have spots all over them in no paticular patter. And yeah, I think one bit me once, and it didn't hurt, it was just irritating...
...but yeah, I still get the "must kill bug" instinct every time I see one of them. |

I have nothing to say to you but...I can't stand moths. They really creep me out. Big time. So, not too dissimilar.

omg I'm so glad i've met someone else who hates ladybugs as much as I do!!!!
My room that I had a couple years back was always just covered with them! Every day I would have to get out the vacuum and suck them up (even right off the window!) Everyone seems to think they're all gentle and "cute" but they are sooooo not! I feel your pain lol
