I have been off meds for oh..about 4 months now. I NEED to go back on but really want the opinions of any of you who are on meds now or have been in the past.
I suffer from massive anxiety and panic, but also some depression. I am wondering what meds worked the best for you? What side effects you had? Did you gain weight while taking them? Or anything else you can think of to tell me.
I know I need the advice of my doc but I also feel it is important to hear others stories to best make a rounded decision.
Im leaning toward LEXAPRO because I have not tried it yet and heard you may even experience some weight loss while on it, and for me what would be great!
(Im already on klonapin, and will keep taking it!)

Thanks guys............ New Meds....What should I take?

Seroquel had a slight beneficial effect (I could sleep better). NONE of the others (supposed to be for anxiety, depression, psychosis, whatever) had any beneficial effect; most had no effect that I could see. I determined to swear off meds, thinking that they were no solution. I think I was right.

YMMV, as they say.

As with any meds for anything, everyone is different. What works for one doesn't always work for another. Plus there are so many combinations that the doc can put you on, it's not always easy to tell which one is doing good or doing nothing at all.

For depression I have been on paxil and celexa. The paxil made me so flat I had no emotion one way or another and absolutely no anxiety. So, good and bad there.

The celexa worked like a charm for me on depression and helped with the anxiety too. I've never been on anything other than those two meds for depression.

I do now take an occasional ativan for anxiety attacks, but that's all I'm on at the moment.

I do hope you are able to find something that works well for you!

Thanks Pachy and Sabby...

I know everyone is different but I so like to hear what has worked or not worked for others. It makes me think of things I can ask the doc and therapist when I go in, so thanks for the replys. New Meds....What should I take?
Have a good one...

I have major problems with depression and anxiety so I take Effexor XR and Celexa. Celexa is supposed to be good for anxiety - but I'm not sure I noticed any big improvement once I went on it, but that could also just be my life's circumstances at the moment. I take clonazapam for anxiety.

I also find daily mindfullnes meditation helps.

I tried Zoloft for 9 months and I had no side effects I took 50mg a day plus I had ativan for when I really needed it.......it tokk me about 2 weeks to wean myself which I would take a pill and miss maybe the next day......to tell you the truth it did help I guess but I also really tried to heal myself thru diet and excercise and vitamins.
It worked but I still have anxiety nut not as bad.....I was frightened to be on meds so I took myself off...not saying there not good for some people it helped I just perfered a more natural approach.
i did think Aitvan really helped me thru those tough days.....I had the anxiety where I was scared all the time....my fear response was stuck in high gear
