Are obsessive thoughts always so exaggerated? Are the contents of each though exaggerated versions of what goes on in real life? What are the chances that these exaggerated thoughts occur? I am having some extremely exaggerated thoughts that lack logic and have numerous scenarios running at the same time. Not to mention my immune system has not been in the best shape. I also have disturbing dreams, which have happened as of late. Are disturbing dreams common with OCD sufferers?

I have been having many many thoughts about the same subject. I am concerned that I might be regressing instead of progressing. I don't understand why I forget things. I wonder if that too is part of having obsessive thoughts.

do you have a therapist, GeeN?

there are therapies designed to help these specific problems.

most exaggerated thoughts are a play in our minds - and hold no truth.

thank goodness! it would be great to turn this stuff off huh?
you can today. you need to see a dr. and tell them what you go thru and you can feel aleviated with treatment. i've seen it work in people i know and people here tell us so.

best to you.

peace,
nightbird

I do see a therapist. I have come to realize that I have to pay attention..really pay attention to my thoughts. I have to see specifically what is being exaggerated and distorted. In many cases it is this specific piece of information. I have to talk to my therapist about why I get stuck on this piece of information. I have largely overcame it for the most part, yet I know I still have a way to go.

GeeN, I struggle with debilitating obsessive thoughts. It seems the longer I obsess about them, the larger they grow and the further from reality I get. Sometimes, I get so many things bouncing around in my head that I can't keep them all straight. I think all this distracts me and makes it difficult for me to remember things. Yes, I think the more my mind obsesses in my waking hours, the worse and more disturbing my dreams become. But, fortunately, I have found meds and therapy to be a big relief. Staying on my meds and talking with my therapist about the thoughts has made a world of difference.
